A Truce means the temporary cessation of hostilities. Truman hired a freaking WW! Vet. to be his commander in Korea and he couldn't control him even when he was intentionally insulted by MacArthur demanding that the president fly to meet him and failing to salute. The mission was to force the NK invaders back and it was completed in a year but for some reason Truman lost control when Mac ordered ill equipped Troops to "unite the peninsula" when the Red Chinese threatened to enter the conflict if U.S. Troops approached the Yalu. It happened and the Chinese entered the war and the U.S. victory turned out to be a three year quagmire that the cost the lives of anywhere from 35,000 to 50,000 Troops. It was Truman's war and he should have been arrested for criminal negligence.
