France passes law imposing up to two years prison for running pro-life websites

Making abortion legal is one of the worst mistakes this country has ever known
If it's a matter of it being her body to do as she pleases, why is prostitution illegal?

I think abortion should be legal but i feel very strongly that the constitution says it is a state matter, not a federal one.
If I believed abortion should be legal, I'd be with you...state matter' not fed. But I'll be damned if I can wrap my head around a woman being legally able to kill her (and the mans) child
Then rich republican women can go to a state where abortion is legal

Yeah and rich pedophiles travel overseas to rape children too.

Your point?

The point is women of all political beliefs have abortions. Bob Barr, pro-lifer, drove his wife to get an abortion.

Was somebody opposing abortions only for liberals or something?

Once the Child in the womb is recognized by the Supreme Court as a "person" - those children Automatically become entitled to the Constitutional protections of our laws.

No State can just take that away.

Abortion is never mentioned in the constitution. Neither is murder. By the tenth amendment, both are state matters.

Enforcement is mainly left up to the States - Yes.

However, the premise of any law must pass Constitutional muster.

So, when you say "murder is not in the Constitution" and therefore it is a matter for the States. . .

Does that mean a State could "legalize" murder if it wants to?

Why not?

It's because such a law would NOT be Constitutional. Right?

The same thing would apply to abortion if the Supreme Court rules that personhood begins at conception.

The States would still make laws regarding enforcement and penalties. . . but a State could not strip away the Children's Constitutional rights in the process.

Have you read the Constitution or understand how we interpret it? There are a lot of things that are not explicitly mentioned in the Constitution, but which we give power to the Federal government for because of what is implicit in what is mentioned. Are you now going to go about and espouse that Americans have no right to privacy because that isn't explicitly mentioned either?

The left is constantly battling free speech and no doubt they want such a law in america too.

France passes law imposing up to two years prison for running pro-life websites

feb 17 2017 PARIS, France, February 17, 2017 (LifeSiteNews) — The French National Assembly has adopted legislation to make what it calls “spreading misleading information” about abortion punishable with up to a two-year prison sentence and a fine.

The law specifically targets “electronic” and “online” means of spreading information with the intention of dissuading women from ending their pregnancy, but its wording is not restrictive. By and large, any person or group aiming to call public attention to the dangers and risks of abortion will be potentially at risk of prosecution.

It is the latest in a series of pro-abortion laws that have made “voluntary interruption of pregnancy,” as the French euphemism goes, a purely elective and 100 percent publicly-funded “fundamental right” since socialist François Hollande came into power five years ago.

Pro-life huh? Like, if they promote no executions, no war, things like this?

Abortions are a woman's private business.
Bull shit. All men are created equal... its in our constitution. Sperm hits the egg... created.

What is created is a possible life, 1/3 of which ends in miscarriage.

If it were only a possible life, there would be no need for an abortion to KILL it and the woman would NOT be pregnant.

There is no such thing as being pregnant with a "possible child."

Pregnancy is referred to as "with child" not "with potential child."

You mean like the death penalty.? Many states have legalized that.

Ah yes - the old "living document" argument. You think courts have the right to read anything into the constitution.!!! As for the right to privacy, if you want that in the constitution then get an amendment passed.

OP is a lie.

They aren't imprisoning people for running pro-life websites.

They are making it illegal to LIE about abortion risks.

(from the article):

Marisol Touraine, the minister of health, said the law exclusively targets websites that do not present themselves as being pro-life while aiming to deter women from having abortions. Laurence Rossignol, minister for women’s rights, said opponents to abortion would still be free to voice their opinion “under the condition they openly state who they are, what they do and what they want.”

Ever notice how pro choicers are openly disgusted with pregnant women smoking?

I remember for instance (typical of Hollywood hypocrisy) on Seinfeld. Elaine on one episode shows her contempt for a pro life person where she argued it's the woman's body and has the right to choose. The next episode she gets into a giant fight with a pregnant woman smoking saying how bad it is for the fetus.

I know, just a show. However, that is how many of them think. Why is it that the left support cheerfully a woman CHOOSING to vacuum out an infant from their uterus, but get deeply and horrifically offended if a woman CHOOSES to smoke while pregnant?

They are so pathetic. They certainly won't get my rhetorical questions. Oh, they will get it but will obfuscate from the point due to cognitive dissonance.

Title of thread is false. Distorts truth in order to veil bias. This is exactly what the cited law opposes.

Absolutely right. I'm glad France has instituted a Ministry of Truth to stamp out the lies of the conservatives.

I'm just an ignorant but this law seems to be not constitutional. I checked out the French Constitution.
The preamble says "the French people solemnly proclaim their attachment to the Rights of Man and the principles of national sovereignty as defined by the Declaration of 1789..."
Then I checked out the Declaration of the Rights of Man and Citizen and the article 10 says "No one should be disturbed for his opinions, even in religion, provided that their manifestation does not trouble public order as established by the law".
So...this law seems to break both the French Constitution and the Declaration of 1789 art. 10... :dunno:
