Fox News Acknowledges 160 Airstrikes Against Islamic State Still Claims Obama Hasn t Taken Action Blog Media Matters for America

Fox News' months-long effort to criticize President Obama's response to the Islamic State extremist group while ignoring the steps he's taken to combat the group culminated in a confused segment claiming that the U.S. has both taken and not taken military action against ISIS.

On the September 15 edition of America's Newsroom, Fox News contributor Pete Hegseth pushed for American ground troops to be sent to the Middle East to combat Islamic State forces there. Hegseth criticized Obama's response thus far, saying that allies are seeing "American ambivalence."

A more striking ambiguity took place on screen, where Fox News' text suggested simultaneously that:

  • Obama has not taken any military action against the Islamic State
  • U.S. has conducted over 160 airstrikes against the Islamic State

Read pismoe's post.

They deal with it by pretending its not there.

If you just change the subject, it goes away.

Tactical strikes that destroyed ISIS's hold on the Mosul dam by taking out their heavy artillery and air defense rocket launchers?

Without those strikes ISIS would control the electrical power in the region.

Your grasp of military strategy is deficient.

I quote retired Generals and war fighters General DE RIDO , course we'll see what happens .

It's funny when I see this kind of thing in a Leslie Nielsen movie. It's disturbing when I see it in reality.

Are they denying that those tactical strikes achieved their objectives? Because if they did I suggest that you provide the links so that we can all have a good  at their blind partisanship.

no , they are saying that MORE is needed , success in freeing up the dam is one thing but defeating isis is their concern . Success at the dam and there where boots on the ground , probably Kurds .

And EXACTLY what do the Republicans want to do?

Which one said they wanted to ignore it and then blame Obama?

no , they are saying that MORE is needed , success in freeing up the dam is one thing but defeating isis is their concern . Success at the dam and there where boots on the ground , probably Kurds .

So were you lying when you alleged that they called those tactical strikes "pinpricks?

nope , they are pinpricks and much more is needed to defeat isis .

well , some would bomb the cities Luddley , sorta like Dresden Germany , Hiroshima , Nagasaki were bombed . Non nukes but bombed to smithereens because isis is said to be in the cities .
