In that era there were some very good things behind the ideas of progressivism (worker's rights, civil rights... you know, stuff long since achieved because a good idea is a good idea). Then again, we also founded the Republican party and are home to some very conservative things too. Nowadays liberalism seems to be limited to 4 basic areas. Milwaukee county, Dane County, the Indian Reservations and areas of the Mississippi river port towns. It also has small pockets around universities,but they usually get swamped by the rest of the area around them.
