Florida lawmakers seek to ban kids under 16 from social media

‘The Florida Legislature and social media giants are clashing in a high-stakes battle over whether children should be barred from some of the most popular platforms on the web, a fight that could ultimately land in court.

Lawmakers want to stop children under 16 from creating accounts on social media sites like Facebook and TikTok, likening those apps to casino gambling, cigarette smoking and drinking.

The American Psychological Association concluded, “Using social media is not inherently beneficial or harmful to young people.”’


So much for conservatives being advocates of ‘small government.’

Conservatives need to understand that ‘small government’ is far much more than just irresponsible tax cuts and reckless deregulation.
Parents should ban children under 16 from social media.
I did mine.
 
Give parents effective tools to monitor and control their kids' access to harmful content on the internet and educate those parents about the harmful content. That's the best that we can do.
