Five wars, one question

Should America have fought in:

WWII
Korea
Vietnam
Iraq
Afghanistan

That's it, yes or no, no wrong answers either way, and feel free to pontificate if you wish to...

WWII, yes.

Korea and Vietnam, yes. If only to drain the USSR's and Communist China's economies until they cried uncle.

Iraq. A qualified no. But we were going to war with Hussein again sooner or later. It was inevitable.

Afghanistan, yes. They came into our house and broke our shit, they WILL feel our wrath!

WWII yes, all the rest, no.

WWII: Yes - Far left FDR lied the US into this war he wanted. However Germany did not attack the US, Japan did.

Korea: Yes - In August 1945 the Soviet Union declared war on Japan and, by agreement with the United States, occupied Korea north of the 38th parallel. U.S. forces subsequently occupied the south. This one is a toss up, but goes to show that US was going to be involved regardless of the circumstances.

Vietnam: No from the stand point of the "limited war" concept. And this the scenario that Obama is currently running in Iraq in 2014.

Iraq: 1991 to present, yes on many counts, but not all.

Afghanistan: Yes, but should not agreed with UN to let NATO take charge. The Us led the charge, but turned over control to NATO in later part of 1992.

I'm curious on Korea. First of all, the division of Korea was ... arbitrary. We didn't even know where the 42nd parallel crossed the dam peninsula when we drew the line. But, Stalin had just detonated his own nuke, and we'd pulled out our ground forces. He was convinced the time was right to expand in Asia towards Japan. I don't see how Truman could have sat that out. We shouldn't have been in a position of weakness in the first place, but once NK rolled over the "border....."

...Pyongyang should have vanished in nuclear fire.

Why not ask about WWI as well ?

Anyway............

WWII - yes

KOREA - no

VIETNAM - no

AFGHAN - try prolonged carpet bombing for extended period of time, if unsuccessful consider all out invasion

IRAQ - no

And by the way, a parting shot.
I will NEVER AGAIN support us going to war, outside of our homeland being attacked of course, in ANY other country.

First of all, you cannot count on the American people to support it, and all's we do anyway is fight in a politically correct climate, with rules that basically prevent us from ever having a decisive win.
