The story here is that McCarthy did not long ago take the Speaker's Office from Pelosi. It's like a tacit admission that the Republicans being in charge of congress is a fluke, so might as well leave the office for the rightful owner. Just like his CR had nothing the GOP wanted. It was not a continuation of government, it was a continuation of the Pelosi budget.

I guess McCarthy should have actually moved into a schoolboy desk next to Pelosi's receptionist while he was speaker, so she could easily pass on her instructions.
