Music legend Barbra Streisand retweeted a list of Rep. Nancy Pelosi’s biggest legislative achievements. Film director Rob Reiner called her “the smartest, toughest strategic thinker in our party.” And tennis champ Martina Navratilova wondered aloud why Pelosi’s job was at risk but her Senate counterpart’s position was in no such trouble.

“Go figure,” Navratilova tweeted. “A man loses and keeps his place, a woman wins and gets booted?!?”

While congressional leadership fights have historically revolved around insular matters such as committee assignments and rules changes, the battle over who will lead the newly empowered House Democrats has exploded into a national political campaign.

At stake is not merely the House speakership, a job second in line to the presidency, but who will emerge as the country’s most high-profile counterpoint to President Trump — who will set the strategy for investigating him, who will lead the opposition to his agenda, and who will be the face of the Democratic Party ahead of the 2020 campaign.

Will Pelosi come out on top again and if she does will the results be the same as they were when she was the leader of the House in the past.

What changes does she need to make to not repeat the thrashing Democrats took the last time she was the Speaker.

This is going to be great. She's already proposed a supermajority vote to raise taxes on the middle class and the Left hate her for it.

Boy won't those suburban voters just LOVE the Dems when they get a whiff of how many taxes they will have to pay?

More.

I am all for Pelosi for being speaker of the House. We do not need a newbie in there, and the Republicans just hate her (wonder why?), but she knows the GOP tactics and we need her.

Pelosi will win.

No one has stepped forward to challenge her, and somebody beats nobody every day of the week.

Personally, I think Hank Johnson could make a good speaker for the D's. He would be the Historic First Buddhist speaker and his concern about Guam possibly capsizing are interesting to hear.

This kinda thing must be a serious pain in the ass for these politicians. Go up against Pelosi, and you're fucked if she wins. Good luck getting support. Good luck getting on those all-important committees. Good luck having real power in the party, at least for now. You're on the outside, looking in.

I don't how politicians do it. Or why. What a bullshit profession.

Bullshit. Ms. Pelosi voted AGAINST President Trump middle class tax relief, there is no reason to think that she doesn't want to repeal it.

Further, the hissy fit the left threw in opposition to President Trump reducing tax DEDUCTIONS for wealthy Americans as far as state taxes paid, shows they really want to punish the Basket of Deplorebles, AKA the Middle Class.

First we need to remember that it is the Republicans who made Pelosi the poster person for GOP faux-labeled Democratic malfeasance. By listening to them, Democrats are allowing Republicans to make their choice just like the Russians influenced the choice of many Americans thru slanders and misinformation during the 2016 election. Pelosi was also a key organizer for the passage of the ACA, and although Republicans were encouraged to add amendments (up to 63 accepted) McConnell kept his promise too, to deep 6 all legislation attributed to Obama. So they made her the target of all their malice.

The new Democratic House kids are eager, and that is encouraging. Several of them should pay attention and learn. But IMHO Pelosi knows the ropes better, and she sure as hell knows McConnell tricks better. I say give her a couple of years, then squabble over a change in leadership. She has also stated some positive legislation ahead and not concentrated on vengeance. She needs to rein in the hot-heads and she can do that too. She's a tough old bird.

What 'middle class tax relief' did she vote against? I wasn't aware there IS one proposed?

no doubt Obamacare needs fixing, but it won't be done through executive order...
