FEMA not doing much to help those affected by hurricane Michael

Complaints of lack of help are starting to trickle in:

Down the street, Barbara Sanders stood outside her daughter’s unit, where she had come to stay during the hurricane.

“We’re not getting any help,” she said. “We need food. It’s just crazy.”

Sanders said that not a single relief agency had come by to check on them. Only the police had come and it was to tell everyone to leave. “They told us there’s nothing they can do and it’s gonna take a long time to rebuild,” Sanders said.
No Food, No FEMA: Hurricane Michael’s Survivors Are Furious

Let's hope FEMA steps up its game. These are desperate human beings who are suffering.

Governor just announced that 110,000 FEMA aid applications have been received. Saw Nat Guard all over the impact zone. Just because someone gives you ONE ANECDOTAL account -- that's not a news story is it??

Playing politics with victims 20 days before an election is EXPECTED -- but not helpful at all..
You falsely stated that there was only one anecdotal account in the article:

"In Gadsden County, outside Tallahassee, where the storm killed four people, county commissioner Anthony Viegbesie said he had not seen a single relief agency."

And your evidence that FEMA is doing a good job is that many have requested help through applications. Be smarter.

110,000 applications means the low cost loans and infrastructure aid will be MASSIVE and expected.

Tallahassee wasn't NEAR max impact. Storm deaths are randomly distribution and don't CAUSE emergency response to ASSUME they should drop what they are doing and RUSH there.

I'm sure you can hot meals WIDELY in Tallahassee right now. Other places you cannot. Want to 2nd guess all of the coordination here?

How many hurricanes have YOU been thru? Many that our family evacuated for -- we lost power and were in worse shape 40 miles away than if we had stayed. There are ALWAYS pockets of life springing back up EVERYWHERE except in the max destruction zones. Is a Centrista a Radical Centrist? Isn't that an oxymoron?

FEMA doesn't direct relief agencies, they aren't government.

What an entitled piece of shit. What did she do, sell her food stamps for crack?

It’s amazing how people still think the Federal government is going to be able to show up just for them. Everyone knew the hurricane was coming, these people chose to stay. You can’t complain about the Feds not being there when you ignored them when they told you to get out.

I know I'll get roasted for stating this but I'll say it just the same...I'm willing to bet that the people who are complaining that they aren't being fed by FEMA didn't have any food in the house BEFORE the storm hit and won't have any in the house a year after the storm is history!
You are a conservative in a conservative message board. Stop pretending you will get "roasted" here.

You know what's amusing? Watching a liberal whine about any form of media that they don't have total control over and isn't totally biased in their favor! This is a "conservative message board"? Why? Because they actually let conservatives post here? You actually have to debate people who's ideas don't match yours, Centrista! The horror!

The Daily Beast? That's basically the left's Infowars........
No, more like the lefts daily caller. Inforwars would be like the Palmer report.
You have your opinion, Media Bias Check has theirs.

Why would someone need a person from the government to come and take care of them when it rains a bit harder than normal?

Are people really that weak and defenseless?
This is your idea of it just “raining a bit harder than normal”...

... is it?

And the deputy director of FEMA still has not been confirmed even though he was nominated over a year ago. Seems there is a hold up because of Democrats.
FEMA is under funded and understaffed. You have people who refuse to follow evacuation orders then complain when someone is not right there to rescue them. Most agencies are busy right now focusing on finding trapped survivors and trying to get some needed basic services back on.

Stop lying and blaming Democrats.

By "complaints of lack of help" you mean the media elites?

Stupid democrats waiting for handouts and can't follow instructions. Cops told them to leave, there are shelters available. It's a damn simple concept, if you ain't got what you need where you are, you go where it is available.

.

I have lived with hurricanes all my life. Only since Katrina have the Washington Gods been in charge and it is a disaster.

Oh? Where does that article say the Deputy Director is among the jobs not filled??

If they weren't prepared they should have left when they had the chance.
And are these people just sitting around waiting for someone to knock on the door with food and water?
How the hell is FEMA supposed to know where these people are?

These are idiots who didn't prepare for a hurricane and now want to be "saved"! If you're going to stay to ride out a hurricane you better provide yourself with food and water to last at the very least four to five days. If you don't do so then you're going to be one very miserable person following the storm because the first priority is going to be search and rescue for people trapped in debris or the recovery of bodies. It's not rocket science if you live in Hurricane prone areas...you get together a box of hurricane supplies...keep it in your pantry...and when a storm threatens you augment that with jugs of water and food from the grocery store that doesn't need to be refrigerated. After the storm hits and you lose power you use up what's in your freezer. FEMA will eventually get into these areas to do their work but it won't be done quickly...it never is!
exactly. FEMA is now responsible for an individuals poor decision according to the left. see, they really do think individuals are not self sufficient. the left truly love power. POWER baby, fk self responsibility, you all are too fking stupid, right you leftists? right?
