It's a drive towards Groupthink and the crushing of individualism. Stay with the flock or be banished!

I am no expert, but there has to be a condition with the underlying symptoms that demand absolute loyalty to a group. It's comparable to a cult, but it's even more powerful than this as it's reinforced by even complete strangers and sometimes through media and Hollywood.
