Federally mandated Cameras for cops

Recording interaction with the Police does seem to level the playing field. I mean let's face it, the Police can make up anything. Without the camera, it's an army of Cops' word against a lone Citizens' word. And guess who wins on that one?

Lots of police cars already have dash cams. Mostly to protect the police from false charges of inappropriate arrests. So that doesn't appear to be a real issue.

The Federal government mandating body cameras is an issue. Sorry Obama, it is up to the locals to do that stuff. If the Fed wants to body cam the FBI, it is their choice. However, the State/County/City elected officials will decide what equipment their officers will wear.

All police should wear camera's and if the camera is turned off during an incident that later goes to court the fact that the camera was off should serve as evidence against the officer.

Simply turning it off should be a felony.

My big hesitation would be that this would mean the cops filmed any and all interactions and that constitutes an invasion of privacy.

Here's what you'd find if body/lapel cameras were required for all LEO's.....

1. A massive reduction in forces, due to retirements and officers quitting their jobs. You may think this is a great thing until you realize that most of these would be senior/veteran officers and the ability to replace them would be very low.

Yes...the ones who react to cameras like cockroaches top floodlights would leave. This is a GOOD thing, since these thugs are the ones who need to go!

So.....we have some riots going on, we have story after story of cops being dicks when cameras are put on them and they dont seem to know it. So why not take a few billion, ( we don't need tanks so cut that out of the budget) and produce enough dash and body cameras for the police.
It would be an extremely easy fix and we wouldnt have brown cases popping up. Or is this just going to get a bunch of state right posts? We have no problem selling armored tanks to local small time Law enforcement, so why not give them some cameras?

I got a better idea, how about we require all convicted criminals to wear cameras anytime they are outside their home. That way we have a sure fire way to make sure they abiding by the terms of their parole or probation and insure they don't commit more crimes. That would pretty much solve both problems.

Let's just take DNA from everyone, and tag all Americans and track them like UPS packages, problem solved, You've got nothing to hide right, Patriot?

Nor did it get the killer cop arrested and put on trial. The other cops all copped pleas and got off.

The only reason the leftist hysterics are demanding cops wear body cameras, is so they can point to tapes of hordes of cops assaulting, beating, and shooting black people.

But those cameras will start showing almost a solid litany of criminal thugs, rapists, and thieves who turn out to be black, with cops responding to them with as much restraint and civility as the criminals' behavior can merit (and far more than criminals deserve).

And you can bet the calls for cameras will change VERY quickly to cries of outrage at how unfair it is for cops to wear body cameras.

Republicans will probably get blamed.
