What two methods was he referring to and if those didn't work such as the democratic process then what powers are associated with leaders during wartime?
Considering he used the Constitution several times, it's clear.
The second quote was about the economy. He was referring to us working together as a dedicated group (like an army), making sacrifices (like an army), and trusting our leaders (like an army) to lead us to a better tomorrow.
The third quote, he was clear about what he was asking. He would want broad executive power if it became to a level of the crisis. Lincoln got the same thing during the Civil War, our Founding Fathers had something similar if I remember during the Revolution, and Bush had the same thing after 9/11. Does it make right? Not necessarily, but he's being upfront about it.
