An FBI agent testified to Republican attorneys general this week that the FBI held weekly meetings with Big Tech companies in Silicon Valley ahead of the 2020 presidential election to discuss "disinformation" on social media and ask about efforts to censor that information.

On Tuesday, lawyers from the offices of Attorneys General Eric Schmitt of Missouri and Jeff Landry of Louisiana deposed FBI Supervisory Special Agent Elvis Chan as part of their lawsuit against the Biden administration. That suit accuses high-ranking government officials of working with giant social media companies "under the guise of combating misinformation" to achieve greater censorship.

:oops8:

And the hits just keep coming.....I predict a tidal wave of such revelations letting the public know how they were bilked.

But, but, but, the government is wise. The government knows what is best for us.

During the deposition, Chan said that he, along with the FBI’s Foreign Influence Task Force and senior Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency officials, had weekly meetings with major social media companies to warn against Russian disinformation attempts ahead of the 2020 election, according to a source in the Missouri attorney general's office.

Censorship, according to the link in the OP, was not discussed.

Why hold meetings that produce no action

So, the FBI was claiming to major social media executives that certain information was actually Russian disinformation, but the FBI did not expect that claim to change the media's reporting and/or posting of that information?

What were they having the meetings for? Just shooting the shit on the taxpayer dime? Did Facebook, Twitter, et al, know that their highly paid employees were just having a gossip with federal law enforcement for no work-related purpose?

Look, the social media wasn't wrong to listen to the FBI when the FBI told them those lies. Their reporting decisions based on those lies were not crimes, they were editing decisions they had ever right to make. It was the FBI who violated the first amendent rights of not only every social media user, but of the social media itself.

We have a gang of white collar criminals in charge of enforcing federal law, and it is time to shut them down.

Did you ever watch the Congressional and Senate hearings where Social Media heads were questioned about how they promoted Russian disinformation in the 2016 election?

They were chewed up and spit out, and then raked over the coals!!!

Well, in these Congressional Hearings, Social Media begged for government help to discern the Russian propaganda.

So, under Trump's reign, a means to pass on what intelligence knew or suspected as Russian disinformation with these social media networks was created....is my understanding, and again at social media's request. With social media making all calls on how they will handle any thing.

Back when I worked public health, we had dozens of meetings that produced no action in the area of bio hazard attacks and disaster response to anthrax, ricin, smallpox, etc...

As was proven by the Mueller report, the Soviets interfered in our 2016 elections. They used social media. The FBI was advising the social media companies on the 2020 attempts.

Agreed.
Our system is corrupted.
Tyrants ARE in charge.

With that out of the way......
What are We going to do about it? Anything?
Did you see the extensive list of companies I posted on this forum naming those supporting this oppression?
Are you doing everything you can to avoid giving them your money?
Sadly, most on the Right will complain...then give the oppressors and tyrants their money readily in exchange for a little entertainment.

Over the course of human history.....not ONE Tyrant has ever been removed from power by words alone.
Not ONE society has ever been saved from oppression and tyranny just because there was some complaining among the oppressed.

No they did not......FBI pushed a Hilly disinfo campaign and pinned it on the Russians

Well, Trump's DOJ and the GOP Senate prove you're wrong.

You just said........

"HEY LOOK EVERYONE!! I'M CANDYCORN AND I'M A PROFESSIONAL PARTISAN HACK !!!!!"

The Biden DOJ and Democrat led Senate and House are just as bad or worse.

Sure Candycorn, you can say you're not a fool, but when your own words readily betray yourself for all to see....oh well.

Sorry if the truth is a bummer for your life. I suspect you live in constant denial.

Two possibilities...
1) You really are this dense, and can't see the elephant in the room with what you just typed.
2) You know of it, but have fail proof blinders on that effectively block every detail of information that doesn't support your predisposition and preferred narrative.

I think probably pretty even of both.
