In a Republic, actually
“The Supreme Court on Monday will hear oral arguments to determine the constitutionality of that Texas law along with a related Florida law, which prohibits platforms from suspending the accounts of political candidates or media publications.

The cases will determine whether state governments or tech companies have the power to set the rules for what posts can appear on popular social networks.”

The right to freedom of association, prohibiting government from dictating to private organizations, such as private social media, who will or will not be allowed to participate or to dictate the content of speech.

Will the Court’s conservative majority again ignore settled, accepted precedent and allow the state to force private social media to accommodate rightwing hate speech, bigotry, and racism?

Innit awful convenient when the shitlibs are all about "MUH PRIVATE BIDNESS" when said bidnesses are doing their bidding?....Otherwise, they're a bunch of greedy bastards, who are all out to rip off everyone and pay their employees slave wages!

It might be interesting to see how The Supremes thread the needle between states and private business, on this one.

I have mixed feeling on this.

On one hand I understand the damage done to kids with that crap. It is creating a generation of really fucked up confused kids.

On the other hand I think it is the responsibility of the parents to police their children, not the government's. The government controls too much of our lives already.

I would not be too upset if DeSantis vetos the Florida bill.

Part of your prob is govt is embeded in them helping pick and choose who to silence.

I never visited the twitter website until recently. It's damn amusing on there. :laughing0301:

I don't know what it was like before, but the shitlibs are bunched together like flies on shit and are a fringe element, much like real life. They get horse-fucked every time they venture off their turd to snivel about the orange man.

I can see why they fell apart when Elon took over. Free speech is MFer.

I align with this philosophy .. although, many of the parents of these kids are just as wrapped up in social media (including the production of pornography) and lack the will to invest in their children. Parents are no doubt a leading contributor, and social media serves as the catalyst for today's generation of kids.

If they decide with the right-wingers on this one, they will be opening up a giant can of worms as left-wing states like California will decide to enact a billion laws for their states in the name of consumer protection.
