Facts about an Obamacare repeal - Things the average citizen doesn't know

Needs to be posted again

"Financially, thus far the law is exceeding expectations, with spending on ACA subsidies and Medicaid (not to mention total health spending across the economy) for 2014 coming in below the numbers "sold" in 2010, while Medicare savings have come in substantially higher:"

It can't be repealed until 2017 when the next GOP President is sworn in. Plus, we need 60 votes in the senate and only have 56. It's an ideological fight not a real one yet, because we still don't have the power. Also, any Right winger in the GOP like Paul Ryan or an extremeists like Bachmann if they say they can they are trying to control your mind to make you think they can for political reasons and even they know nothing can be done till 2016.
Anybody that tells you what I have said above should run for President because it's honesty and the truth. Calling a spade a spade and they aren't caught up in the washington machine.

From,

John Kasich,

"Kasich doesn't think the Affordable Care Act will be repealed, even if Republicans win a Senate majority and consolidate their hold on the House in next month's election. "That's not gonna happen," Kasich told The Associated Press during a recent re-election campaign swing. "The opposition to it was really either political or ideological," the Republican governor added. "I don't think that holds water against real flesh and blood, and real improvements in people's lives."

Bingo! Fact and honesty that you wont find in Washington. I put it in perspective for all of you guys above. It's not just the left that is playing games with you all. It's the right as well. They each have their own agendas and can't be direct in saying what it is.

Example - Defunding Obama care - Ok, let's say they do that. That means everybody on it will lose their coverage and insurance rates will spike even higher, and what will the GOP replace it with? They haven't even been vocal about a plan they just say repeal it. Even if they had a plan it wouldn't matter because they know and we know Obama will veto anything short of a public option. Full take over. He's proven that. So let's say Obama vetos it. Now the libs have something to run on in 2016 because the GOP fucked everything up by defunding Obamacare and won't work with Obama to replace something that needs immedate replacement.

This is political suicide and will costs us 2016. Miss Hilary WILL be president, and all those GOP gains were for nothing.

Bottom line - Don't listen to Levin, Hannity, Rush, Bachmann, Paul, Rubio, or anybody else that says repeal Obamacare because they can't do it and replace it yet.

I happen to agree, Obamacare will not be repealed.

The GOP is essentially useless. All they do is run against things, like Obamacare, but have no intention of ever doing anything about it.

Those that listen to Levin, Rush, etc., need to abandon the GOP altogether. Let Progressives destroy the country under the Dim label instead of falsely labeling people like Bush a conservative.
Your not that smart are you? The supremes will crash obama in july, watch

Thanks to the Supreme Court "conservative" justice Roberts, Obamacare is now the law of the land.

Now who is not smart again? SCOTUS is Obama's rubber stamp of approval. He owns them.
?

SCOTUS has shot down more cases from Obama than any other president in recent history if I am not mistaken. This court is FAR from a 'rubber' stamp. Like it or not, Obamacare fits in with the current interpretation of the constitution that seems to allow the government to write you a check if you have to many kids or buy the right water heater. This is simply an extension if the exact same idea.

They will likely rule against the subsidies as it is written in the law in that manner and then congress will plug the hole, Obama will sign it, the media will have a hayday in between all the rhetoric and everything will press on as it is now.

Republicans have no option but to fix the subsidy hole. If they do not, there wont be a republican left in office come 2016 that was up for reelection.

There's a huge difference between defunding the entire obamacare and the Supremem court ruling against subsidy's . Congress will just throw money at it in the short term till 2016. They wont fix it.

Wait. You think a Republican Congress will pass a bill to prop up Obamacare after the SC pulls the rug out from under it?

Really?

Spending on healthcare is down under Obamacare because now no one can afford to go to the doctor. Who can afford to pay $14,400 in premiums every year and they pay a $12,000 deductible?

bripat cannot support is nonsense above.

The ACA is well man walking.

It's opponents are anti-ACA dead man walking.

Depends how dumb they are. If subsidies through federal exchanges were voided, virtually any blue state that hasn't already established a state-run exchange would do so and reclaim those funds. GOP-run states without state-based exchanges would either follow suit or watch their insurance markets implode.

Meanwhile, they'll keep paying for subsidies to flow to blue states, as they've been paying for additional Medicaid funds to flow into blue states (while they fail to reap any of the benefits, watching their underfunded rural hospitals close). And blue states will laugh all the way to the bank.

If the GOP failed to act, it wouldn't make the ACA magically disappear, it would just make life (even more) miserable for recalcitrant red states. I suspect under those circumstances you'd see red state governors caving on a state-based exchange even faster than the smarter red state governors are already caving to the Medicaid expansion.

IF the Court does anything to interfere with ACA, which seems unlikely, yes, I see a Republican Congress propping it up.

Weird that utilization is up then.

Prove it.

As utilization has gone back up following the end of the recession and the coverage expansions in 2014, low health care price growth has kept pulling down total spending. Utilization, not prices, is back to being the primary driver of health expenditures.

Your chart shows that utilization is down compared to the rate before the recession.

I will be bankrupt by 2017. $1,200/month premium, $13,000 family deductible, $6,000 out of pockets.
Fuck this mother fucking shit.
But what you say is not true, so . . .
Fuck you, know-nothing fuckwad. Just because you qualify for the subsidized $200/month premium doesn't mean that we all do. :fu:

Word of advice- buy yourself a dehumidifier. It gets damp in mommy's basement.

That is exactly what they will do. Remember this thread next year when republicans pass a patch to deal with the hole in subsidies.

While Obama is president nothing will change in the Congress when it comes to Obamacare..

You will have to wait until the far left gets removed form power before any real changes can be made..

There is no "far left" in the US government. The U.S. is a conservative country. Obama, by every reasonable measure, is a right of centre conservative politician.

US politics have shifted so far to the right, that our Conservative Prime Minister, would be seen as a flaming communist by most Americans.

The rest of the first world sees health care as a right, and workers' rights as a good thing. Americans call them an assault on freedom.

Your chart shows that utilization is down compared to the rate before the recession.

When you look at growth rates, positive numbers always indicate cumulative totals higher than previous years.

Utilization growth is lower than it was a decade or so ago when premium growth also raged out of control (12-15% each year), that's true. The health system is a lot more efficient now than it was then. But utilization has been growing steadily since the recession ended several years ago. At this point record-low health care price growth is a larger component of what's holding down overall health spending growth than slow utilization growth.

Fuck this mother fucking shit.

My daughter just had knee surgery, which was re-scheduled four (4) times. She ended up having it during finals week at school, which caused all kinds of shit. The surgeon apologized profusely and sheepishly said he hoped the "system" would be fixed soon. I asked him, "ACA?", and he nodded yes. Oh well. Who knows, if the ACA stays, maybe they'll iron out these "bugs".

Aside from "you can keep your plan / your doctor", your point about deductibles may be the biggest killer of the plan. Obviously, first, it's really hurting people. But also, I have a friend who is an administrator at a hospital here, and he says non-payment of deductibles is killing them. They're now starting to require payment of 75% of the deductible before services will be performed, which I learned personally.

This is a mess, as we knew it would be. The predictable result of an important issue becoming politicized.

Best thing for Republicans with respect to Obamacare is fully fund it and let all of the delayed mandates go into effect. By 2018 they will be looking for Obama and the Democrats that voted for this POS and want to hang their asses.
