Like I said, if you have a problem with historical facts, take it up with someone else. Feel free to make a thread in conspiracy theories all about how we didn't actually build those ships, they must have come from aliens.

If you can't provide evidence to back up your claim, it is not a "fact", it's just your "opinion".

It is alot of ships. But not all ships are created equal. If you look at the numbers you see that the two classifications that had the largest increases were destroyers (from 27 to 66) and axiliary ships (from 29 to 96). Just the kind of stuff we might expect to be pulled up from the mothball fleet, which was reasonably extensive at the time.
