It wasn't that long ago. There are still a lot of Americans around today who were alive at that time including some victims. The media's full cooperation and support of of Executive order 9066 should be a lesson to Americans but sadly the media writes the history books and the truth is sometimes hard to find. FDR threw the Constitution in the garbage when he issued a decree that American Japanese citizens and Japanese legal aliens would be rounded up without due process and placed behind barbed wire and armed guard towers for the duration of WW2. You could almost argue in favor of a flawed idea to protect the US from espionage if the order was universal but it seems that maybe real estate speculators talked the criminal administration into incarcerating certain Japanese who owned valuable property. The Japanese citizens on the California coast were given about a month to rid themselves of their property and possessions. Strangely enough Hawaii was a hotbed of espionage but the administration made no effort to incarcerate the Japanese who were needed to make coffee for the admirals. The point is that some executive orders that do minimal damage to the checks and balances of the US Constitution are tolerated and held up as shortcuts to an efficient government and some are such criminal affronts to Constitutional law that they are abominations. We made the mistake of trusting the media during the FDR administration and we compound the error every day.
