Even liberal press mocks charge Chamber of Commerce funnels foreign money

NYTimes of all places are even agreeing that Obama and his mind numbed robots have YET to provide A SINGLE SHRED OF EVIDENCE that foreign money is being funnelled to republicans.

DNC Chairman Tim Kaine joins David Axelrod and President Obama in accusing the US Chamber of Commerce of taking foreign money and using it to fund campaign ads against Democratic candidates.

Note: David Axelrod and other who have made similar accusations against the Chamber have yet to provide solid evidence that foreign money is being used to fund their campaign advertisements.

CBS’s Bob Schieffer on Sunday mocked President Obama’s senior adviser David Axelrod for echoing last week’s unsubstantiated charge by a liberal website that the Chamber of Commerce is funneling foreign money to support Republican candidates.

“The New York Times looked into the Chamber specifically and said the Chamber really isn’t putting foreign money into the campaign,” said the Face the Nation host.

“This part about foreign money, that appears to be peanuts,” chided Schieffer.

When Axelrod continued to press the issue, Schieffer said almost laughing, “If the only charge, three weeks into the election that the Democrats can make is that there’s somehow this may or may not be foreign money coming into the campaign, is that the best you can do?” (video follows with transcript and commentary):

In two campaign stops Thursday, Mr. Obama invoked what he portrayed as a specific new example, citing a blog posting from a liberal advocacy group as he teed off on a longtime adversary, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, over its political spending.

“Just this week, we learned that one of the largest groups paying for these ads regularly takes in money from foreign corporations,” Mr. Obama said. “So groups that receive foreign money are spending huge sums to influence American elections.”

But a closer examination shows that there is little evidence that what the chamber does in collecting overseas dues is improper or even unusual, according to both liberal and conservative election-law lawyers and campaign finance documents.

In fact, the controversy over the Chamber of Commerce financing may say more about the Washington spin cycle — where an Internet blog posting can be quickly picked up by like-minded groups and become political fodder for the president himself — than it does about the vagaries of campaign finance.

For them to bleat about PERFECTLY legal mony coming into the Chamber of Commerce smacks of nothing more than getting close to election day desperation.

They know the USSC says it's constitional for corporations to use their free speech (in dollars), that Obama can't stop it. So they are doing their usual scortched earth. When they can't shut you up via the courts, they try via the smear and the lie.

Why is it that Democrats call Republicans racist nativists who fear monger about the boarder but when it comes to elections they seem to have a fear mongered problem regarding the alledged "foreign influence". Sounds to me like the democrats are trying to stir up some racist nativists as well... hmmm.
