How to use entanglement for long-distance or free-space quantum communication

Entanglement, once called "spooky action at a distance" by Einstein, is the phenomenon in which the quantum states of separated particles cannot be described independently. This puzzling phenomenon is widely exploited in the quantum physicist's toolbox, and is a key resource for applications in secure quantum communication over long distances and quantum cryptography protocols. Unfortunately, entangled particles are easily disturbed by their surroundings, and their entanglement is readily diminished by the slightest interaction with the environment.

Instant interstellar computing?

Cool stuff.

But if, for example, we sent a terminus to the Andromeda galaxy at light speed starting tomorrow, we wouldn't be able to start our instant communication with the andromeda galaxy for 2 million years.

Not sure how a signal would get that far but wuwei argued for a week that entanglement could not be used for communications. The fact is that this could be used in desktops and both replace wires and make a trip to the other side of the globe literally instant

Oddly enough instant means instant not light speed which you are probably using for speed

We can not really test this in any way as of yet for distance

Communicate with whom? Everyone I know lives in this solar system.

I don’t know if we will ever transmit data at quantum speeds, but the OP’s banning did.

That's not true. I argued that yes, entanglement could be used for secure communication, but it would only go at light speed. The Chinese already tested secure entanglement communication from earth to a satellite, but only at light speed.

Could be, the thing is that they are making this work, it's proved and no one really understands what is happening
Yes, all physicists understand what entanglement is. What they don't have is an intuitive or philosophical grasp of how cause and effect of entanglement disagree with the fact that events in QM should be local. Bell's theorem led to a number of experiments that show the nature of that.

John G. Cramer proposed a Transactional interpretation of entanglement and shows that the math behind entanglement is already in classical physics, but an unnecessary and unprovable adjunct. In quantum mechanics it becomes important.

Dude you said like 50 times that there was no way that entanglement could ever be used for communication, in fact you argued this for a week

It's OK, most fall short

Dude I was the one who posted the article inking the Chinese space experiment in the first place , so you play on kid, you claimed that entanglement could never communicate anything. Furthermore yes instant is faster than light, instant implies no speed at all as the link is there before being sent or measured.

Quantum "spooky action at a distance" travels at least 10,000 times faster than light

The Chinese have measured although quirkily that entanglement is 10000 times faster then light speed at least

Do you really want more humiliation?

Of course, as anyone who has read Frannie the Whiny idiot's posts has probably already guessed: Frannie is wrong, his links do not support his claim, and Wuwei is correct.

Here is a good layman summary:

The Real Reasons Quantum Entanglement Doesn't Allow Faster-Than-Light Communication

Frannie is not responsible for the link, therefor you are not arguing with me. Bye the way kid NASA also agrees that the farthest away galaxies are moving at 5 times light speed at least.

Quantum "spooky action at a distance" travels at least 10,000 times faster than light

How are galaxies moving away faster than light?

That is a bald faced lie and you know it.

I read about the Chinese experiment using entanglement the day it was published. You are lying again, or you did not read or understand the article. You don't understand there is a difference between "action at a distance" and "communication at a distance".

The experiment did not have the precision to measure "instant" but they did verify a lower bound; that it was at least 10,000 times faster than light.
"The time it would take light to travel between Alice and Bob was about 50 μs,
while the action of the entanglement dynamics had to be less than 0.35 ns."

"Action of the entanglement dynamics" does not refer to communication.

One more time:
Entanglement dynamics is instantaneous.
Communication of that entanglement state is light speed.

I would appreciate if if you stopped lying.

Of course it is. Don't worry, everyone knows what a lying freak he is.
