Employment Report

If obama was an epidemic democrats would cheer the number who died because they were no longer sick.

If they went back to look at when I started this thread, they would see how convoluted it's become because they can't face up to the truth. It's laughable.

This was the only thing the thread was about:

"FAIL! 96,000 jobs created. 125,000 expected."

They've twisted, distorted, accused, squirmed, diverted, mocked and the above fact is still just that....FACT!

This is what you Obama zombies are cheering....Pathetic is the right word for what you zombies are.
How "pathetic" is it to not know the difference between a job and a worker?

So pathetic you dont know that a worker needs a Job....Get professional help for your stupidity.

I hear you. It's what they do here all day. They lie. When a thread is going against them, they divert it. There's a dozen or so asswiping trolls who enter threads with the only purpose of sidetracking it.

And they call Congress obstructionists. :D

edthecryogenic is the perfect example of saying a lot and proving nothing. He trolls thru looking for a "gotcha" moment. Has anyone seen him make any respectable case regarding anything he himself has posted? It consists entirely of mocking and splitting hairs over inconsequential things.

Right, that's the NET change in non farm payroll jobs (doesn't count agriculture, self employed, and some others).

368,000 jobs left the work force.
Ummmm, no. The labor force is the number of employed plus the number of unemployed (people looking for work). This is from a household survey, incudes all the workers the business survey exludes and is in no way comparable. Since the number of employed went down by 119,000 and unemployed went down by 250,000, the labor force went down by 368,000 (rounding errors)

do you still think this works?

Huh? Where did you get that idea? They're still counted, just not in the labor force because they're no longer part of it.

Why would you consider someone not working or trying to work as actually available labor. They can't be hired.

I gave these asswipes the link to the BLS back on the first few replies. They are still mincing words and splitting hairs and can't admit that there are nowhere near enough jobs being created to replace those lost. They're also whining over retirees as if that's going to matter in the overall job picture.

The unemployment situation is no better now than it was 4 years ago in any appreciable measure. Then they switch gears and start with the blame Bush bullshit. Or they say Romney has no plan when the link to his plans have been posted in this forum a dozen times or more.

They're are running on empty and just like their hero can't take responsibility for their actions.

It isn't even worth debating them over it. They wouldn't know a fact if it bit them on their collective asses.

Whining Libs think they should be believed over the BLS who puts the numbers together.

edtheeggonface is perfect proof below. He thinks he hit a bonanza that's somehow going to change the job figures or show any appreciable improvement. He's been slapped all over the thread and he comes back for more. He doesn't even know what point he's trying to make any longer.
TRUE and to add to that, the OBAMA ECONOMY is creating about 110,000 jobs on a GOOD month. Problem is, it takes about 150,000 NEW jobs a month just to keep up with the birth rate and LEGAL immigration!

So...why don't you Obamabots out there explain how we can ADD 150 thousand NEW PEOPLE to the job force, only create 96 thousand jobs and come out with the unemployment rate dropping UNLESS their are fewer people in the work force and by WAY more the the number of retiring baby boomers since the TOTAL population of this country continues to grow at a rate...just about 2.5 million a year since 1996 which is when NOW 16 year-olds entering the work force were born...that just about equals the HIGHEST rate of birth during the baby boomer era?

Besides the lack of math skills, let me explain something to you liberal jackasses out there. My 76 year old mother-in-law retired 20 years ago from a government job. She, at 76 STILL works 3-5 days a week.

My father retired after 35 years at a government job. He was 55 then and worked harder for the next 15 years than he ever did at his government job so he and my mother could "enjoy" their retirement!

Baby boomers are NOT retiring form WORK. They are retiring from their CURRENT jobs. Then the majority start living their REAL retirement plan...which is work their asses off so they can make enough money to last until they die and HOPE that they leave a little something to make it a LITTLE easier for their kids. Which is NOT going to happen since between the health care providers taking their part and the government's DEATH TAX...HALF of their life's work, dreams and plans WILL go to Uncle Sam.

Their only hope that all their efforts to live long, die well and leave their kids a little something will come to ANYTHING is if they have the decency to DROP DEAD!

So you jackasses just keep falling for that liberal nanny state SHIT. You CAN take that belief to the grave with ya, but the fruit of your life's work...BELONGS TO OBAMA!

Oh, and by the way, I and my wife and just about everyone we know ARE baby boomers and I can tell you for FACT that the majority of baby boomers I know aren't thinking about retirement and living off the fruits of a life's work, we are worried about being able to work long enough so that we don't die in ABJECT POVERTY!!!!!!

WE...are working till death to pay for the progressive's THEFT of our present and destruction of the future!

Actually those charts show the birth, work years, and retirement of the Boomers. The Boomers born in the 1940s start to enter the workforce in the 1960s, just when your chart starts its rise, and were first able to retire in 2008 as they turned 62. You can expect the Labor Force Participation rate to decline for the next 15 years as the Boomers continue to retire no matter which Party is in the White House.

United States birth rate (births per 1000 population).[2] The United States Census Bureau defines the demographic birth boom as between 1946 and 1964[3] (red).

Oh, and by the way. You are COMPLETELY ignoring that the birth rate is only PART of the work force. As I pointed out in the above post, the TOTAL population of this country is and has been growing, when immigration is added in, at a rate since about the mid 80's which is just about equal to that during the baby boom era. That boomer birth rate was 1.5 million a year to about 3 million at the highest year and just over 2 million on average.

As a matter of fact, in 1996, the year 16 year-old's who are ENTERING the work force participation rolls you deny, the population grew by 2.5 million. AND in 2007 the birth rate in this country EQUALED the boomer birth rate all time highs.

So you can deny it all you want, but unless you believe that the MAJORITY of the 2.5 million NEW people coming into the work force in this country every year are ALREADY retired or retiring...LOGIC ain't on your side!

By the way, and before you say it, the LEGAL immigration levels today are nearly 3 TIMES what they were during the boomer era. As a matte of fact, there were more LEGAL immigrants between 1991-1997 than there was from 1940 to 1960 COMBINED! And the ILLEGAL immigration numbers are nearly 10 times as high over the last couple decades. So that won't fly either!

Does the " no longer looking fo work" include those who have retired from the workforce?

Those "no longer looking for work" are the baby boomer retirees that Ed's referring to as retired.

The "no longer looking for work" are the people who just gave up looking and those that their benefits have expired.
No I said the MAJORITY of them were Boomers retiring. According to SSI in Aug 2012 there were 219,631 new retirees and 75,459 new disabled. The rest of the 368,000 who left the labor force were new students, new moms, family members who left work to take care of a sick or aged family member, people who left the country, etc.

In 2011 the US population increased by 2,261,698 and retirees increased by 2,598,067.

In 2011 the US population increased by 2,261,698 and retirees increased by 2,598,067.

Exactly, which means that 336,369 more people dropped off the employment rolls due to retirement than were added for the ENTIRE YEAR of 2011.

That's an AVERAGE of 28,030 new retirees a month, while we had just about 300,000 drop off last MONTH alone. That is a net of just about 270,000 more NON retirees dropping out than retirees.

And as is indicated by the Labor Force Participation rate, that has been going on since 2009!

By the way, as a baby boomer, I can tell ya that most boomers are only retiring from their CURRENT jobs. MOST are continuing to work until retirement age...IF they can.

This ain't getting better...it's getting WORSE!

Simple arithmetic is not your strong suit.
In 2011 there was an average of 216,506 retirees per month.

According to SSI in Aug 2012 there were 219,631 new retirees and 75,459 new disabled, as was already posted.

With all due respect, the job report on people people leaving the workforce isn't talking about retiree's.

that is all

They are certainly part of it. In month 1 a person is employed. Before the collection period of month 2, he retires. Employment changes -1, the Labor Force changes -1, Not in the Labor Force changes +1.

However.....for July to Aug the changes to not in the labor force were negative for both the 25-54 and 55+ age groups. Meanwhile 1.6 million more 16-24 year olds were not in the labor force though all of that change, and more, was "Do not want a job now."
