A lot of Americans have SOME Native American heritage, so everybody and their mother who is 1/18th Cherokee likes to latch onto that culture for some reason. If she took a DNA test you could probably find at least SOME trace of Native American blood, but I'm tired of everybody with some small trace of blood in their past pretending that's their "heritage". I'm supposedly 1/18th Cherokee on my dad's side, but I also have German and English blood. I don't consider any of those part of my heritage.

Depends on which test she takes.....if she takes the midocondrian, it would have to be straight thru her mother's line for it to show. My wife's family had a tradition that there was native American in their line, but when she did her DNA, it was straight Norwegian/Swedish. Doesn't mean there isn't any, just means none straight thru the mother/mother's mother/ mother's mother's mother line.

As folks have already indicated, the fact she doesn't sign up for ancestry dot com and do the simple DNA test is because not only will it not show American Indian, but the database at ancestry will automatically link to her other relatives who also even before she gets the results back, who will, surprise, not be American Indian. So it is not like the Obama Photoshop Crew in DC can simply redo the printout of her results and superimpose graphics she requires for her charade. The DNA results will be "the property" of ancestry in that they will be continuously used to find her other, actual relatives. And the chances there would be an insider at Ancestry dot com to help fake the results for a nasty POS like fauxcohontis would be like having an insider it the diamond grading place GIA. Zero probability.
