What that particular verse 2 Thessalonians 3:10 is referring to is "taking personal responsibility" with respect to providing for your own needs, rather than holding a lazy mentality and leeching unto the success of others as YOUR means of provision. Jesus preached to the people (not Government) to give "voluntarily" [key word] out of compassion, to the needs of someone else. It's a decision based upon an individual's "choice" or free will, there is NO scripture spoken by Jesus Christ where he FORCES or condones enforcement of someone to give.

Also, it pays to note that Jesus never advocated interfering with the Roman government decrees or laws, by FORCING His beliefs / views unto Roman Law. While we are ON this subject, whatever happened to the liberal's view of SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE, or perhaps what we have here is "Christianity of convenience"? I am responding to you, and saying that according to the Bible, the govt gets its' authority from God. According to the Bible, the govt has every right to force you to give to charity

Please re-read the fact that I am MOCKING the fact that socialists believe government is God.

As for my Biblical understanding, it may be a little rusty in places but it's far better than most Christians. I've studied it with a concordance as well as own a parallel study Bible with and own at least 6 different translations, an encyclopedias, scholarly works on certain subjects in scripture as well. I've been a member of a church's deliverance ministry as well. So please be careful on your assumption on what I know or don't know and also know very well about people playing 'salad bar' with the scriptures.
