And many more will change it in the future as well. A little under a thousand people have died each year in the US military from training accidents since the end of WW2, so the deaths wont entirely stop for a very long time, if ever.

What is so striking to me is that the changes increase with the advance of technology, getting faster as time goes on, then when the atom bomb is developed, the boundries almost freeze in place, other than the collapse of the Soviet Union and Yugoslavia.
