I would not disagree with that.

They are beautiful dogs and very, very smart.

They are not your typical family dog.

Famous for protecting livestock, the Belgian Malinois is now known for protecting man.

They are great dogs. But with high work ethic, they need the perfect combination of stimulation, physical activity, and socialization.

So, it just depends on if on how much protection is needed --combined with the ability to properly care for this sort of dog and give him the attention he craves and needs to thrive.... combined with the right environment for him.....ideally lots of space.

Anyone considering getting one should of course learn all about them first.

Mals are great dogs as are German Shepherds and others that are MW Dogs.

Mals are herding dogs just like GS's. I've trialed Border Collies and a few of the people I went to trials with had Mals. Great dogs. Police forces are using them as well.

The Mal isn't for everyone. They have a strong prey drive and need a strong handler.
