Diplomatic Coup for President Obama

How can one party so consistantly come down on the wrong side of history?

The path forward has been clearly defined in Copenhagen. Meanwhile, the "Party of No" trots out their flat earth science and pouts

What a pathetic hack.

Thin climate accord a small step in long process - Yahoo! News
A furious final two days of climate diplomacy and presidential brinkmanship produced 2 1/2 thin pages called the Copenhagen Accord, a deal vague at times in meaning, rejected by some, lacking any teeth.

"This particular text falls far short of our expectations," the European Commission president, Jose Manuel Barroso, said of the political declaration produced in talks Friday between President Barack Obama and big developing countries at the U.N. climate conference. Others were harsher in their criticism.

Poor rightwinger. Obama has failed you yet again.

The only thing that came out of Dopenhagen was a vague piece of paper that Obama can point at and call it unpresedented.

So that apologists like you can drool all over yourselves and play make believe.

"Small step in a long process" Nobody claims climate change has been soled. However given the progress that has been made to date, and with the Republican Party Officially opposed to any talk about manmade global warming, it is a significant first step

Once again.....Republicans on the outside looking in with their flat earth science

Don't count on these flakes understanding anything about the process. They'd rather hope nobody ever delves into anything they say further than the words they post on these pages.

The Republicans are getting coal for Christmas and 2010. Minimizing the importance of what Obama/Clinton did in Copenhagen is only compounding their problems becoming a viable party once again.

The party of no has resonated with a few extreme wingnuts and has given them some precarious confidence but a new election is coming soon and reality will be smacking them in the face once again.

The efforts Reid has put forth has also given me increased hope for a healthcare resolution and his chances for reelection.

We all have our opinions but the proof is in the pudding and we will see how it all turns out soon. I'll remember posts like the ones in this thread come November.

Looks like you are just as ditzy as Marilyn....several Democrats have admitted that they will lose seats over this controversial illegal alien entitlement program...aka... goverment run healthcare.

We've been hearing since 2005 how the Republicans are going to take back congress, now the WH in 2012...

All hat, no cattle.

Even if voters are mad at Democrats, it doesn't necessarily follow that will benefit wingnuts in the mid-term elections.

We shall see what transpires in a year....but America won't forget what is happening no matter how many times you repeat "Government run healthcare is deficit neutral, illegal aliens will be deported and not get health insurance, Bush did it." All they have to do is gain ONE SEAT in the Senate and all the rest of the progressive agenda is off the table....albeit a little to late because Obama did all the damage this year.

Not easy to get 193 nations to agree on something as contentious as climate change. Great job by President Obama

U.N. chief says 'we have a deal' on climate change - USATODAY.com

Two weeks of wrangling at Copenhagen exposed sharp divisions between rich and poor nations — and even among major greenhouse-gas emitters like China and the United States— on how to fight global warming.

Yet in the end, nearly all 193 nations at the U.N. climate conference agreed to President Barack Obama's solution, which points toward deeper emissions cuts for rich nations but without mandatory targets that would draw sanctions.

Obama's successful 11th-hour bargaining Friday with China, India, Brazil and South Africa— the world's key developing nations — sets the stage for future cooperation between developed and developing nations. But the resulting "Copenhagen Accord" was protested by several nations that demanded deeper emissions cuts by the industrialized world and felt excluded from the major-nation bargaining process.

yeah, this is some diplomatic coup:

"The United Nations climate change conference ended in recrimination yesterday without reaching a clear deal on emissions targets.

After a stormy session in Copenhagen, in which a vociferous anti-American minority brought the talks close to collapse, most countries agreed simply to “take note” of a watered-down agreement brokered by President Barack Obama and supported by Britain.......
Jeremy Hobbs, executive director of Oxfam International, dismissed it as “a triumph of spin over substance. It recognises the need to keep warming below 2C but does not commit to do so. It kicks back the big decisions on emissions cuts and fudges the issue of climate cash”.

The deal was denounced when put early yesterday to a plenary session of the conference after Obama and other heads of state had flown home.

Delegates from Sudan, Nicaragua, Cuba, Venezuela and Bolivia — who form an anti-American front — led the attack.

A Sudanese delegate, Lumumba Di-Aping, caused uproar when he compared the plan with the Holocaust. It was, he said, “a solution based on the same very values, in our opinion, that piled 6m people into furnaces in Europe”

Birds of a feather??

Those are the guys that get their asses kissed by Obama. What are you looking at Republicans for? Us Independents are more than a little miffed at global warmers.

toss in the chinese while you're at it. barack von metternich did a masterful job with them.

"For Barack Obama it would have been a humiliation too far. First he had been invited to a meeting with Wen Jiabao, the Chinese premier, only to be confronted with a relatively junior official.

Then, once the president’s team had located Wen, Obama was told to wait outside while the Chinese leader tried to conclude a private deal with the leaders of Brazil, India and South Africa.

It looked like a deliberate snub — and Obama was having none of it. As his security staff shouldered aside the Chinese minders, he strode into the meeting room at the cavernous Bella Centre on the outskirts of Copenhagen.

“Mr Premier, are you ready to see me? Are you ready?” Obama said
.

US officials later insisted the president did not barge in uninvited on the surprise meeting, but was merely showing up on time for his talks with Wen.

“We weren’t crashing a meeting — we were going for our bilateral meeting ... we found the other people there,” he deadpanned.

However, the scuffles, along with a second battle as Chinese officials then let their own camera crews into the room while trying to block British and American rivals, told their own story. "

Oh no!

His fellow socialists leaders thought that Papa Obama and the West were not giving them enough money

The Republicans are saying any amount is too much

Sad to say, since Papa Obama and the rest of the West is giving so little to the 3rd World with very little guarantees that they will even get the money, it would have made no difference if a Republican President had showed up instead!

If I read the Times article correctly, which I did, the three page document was "noted" not accepted by the 193 nations. Its existence was acknowledged but not approved. The deal was struck by the rich larger nations and the poor smaller ones felt slighted. Way to piss off China AND over 100 small countries Mr. Obama.

Credit where credit is due. Obama - all by himself - managed to get 193 nations to 'note' a document. Damn, you right wingers can't bear to see him solving the world's greatest problem, can you?

:lol::lol::lol::lol:

It is, indeed, a 'coup' for the Messiah. Nothing short of a miracle! All 193 nations read a few pages of text. Brilliant! Well worth the $200m (approx) spent on the conference. Worth every one of the 41,000 tonnes of CO2 emmissions expended on this conference.

That the "science" of climate change is so corrupt, yet liberals are hell bent on bankrupting this country in the name of their ideology.

Again... just for you since you refuse to acknowledge it.
ANY money we send to any of those countries will not be used to "combat" climate change. Do you think we are as stupid as you are? Or as naive?

Answer this for me, you dopey lib. How the hell are you going to STOP climate change?

Do you even understand what that means?

Yes, in fact he did. To get consensus out of 193 nations while nobody said you could is an accomplishment

Meanwhile, our Republican Party elected to send their own representative to Copenhagen. Spouting the Republican Party line, Senator Inhofe provided a rousing speech to inform the delegates that his party did not believe in manmade global warming and that everyone should just go home. Inhofe was roundly ridiculed and went back home after two hours in Copenhagen.

Another fine example of Republican diplomacy

Warmers are stupid and dangerous. Please do not let any Warmers near your children for any length of time.

If they approach your children and start talking about "Melting Glaciers" or "Fossil Fuel" spray they with mace or pepper spray and call the local nut house who are equipped with the proper butterfly nets to handle them

Really? He accomplished something, did he?

187 signed Kyoto. And that was an agreement to actually do something. He couldn't even get that. You might fall for his shit but lots of us are just too cynical to buy his crap.

All you can do is the typical tactic - deflect.... whine about the Republicans instead of looking at cold, hard fact. Fact is, Obama failed.

So...

What did President Obama get us for Christmas?

1. Worldwide Climate agreement
2. Healthcare Reform

What did the Republicans get us for Christmas?
1. Coal

:lol::lol::lol::lol:Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and we get to PAY for it all.:lol::lol::lol:

When you hold up your three page term paper without footnotes or spell checking, the rest of the class is not going to be too impressed. The rest of the world is watching Mr. Obama. Waiting for things of substance to happen. Crashing meetings and touting eleventh hour fluff does not make you look like a world leader.
