Did Israel just drop a hammer on Obama?

Here ya go:

Defending Sheldon Adelson's Support for Mitt Romney
In the myopic world of American partisan politics, Democrats are attacking Mitt Romney for daring to take money from Sheldon Adelson, the casino king who organized last week’s fifty-thousand-dollars-a-pop Jerusalem fundraiser and has pumped over ten million dollars from his own pocket into the presumptive Republican nominee’s campaign. But the Romney critics protest too much. “Everyone loves a witch hunt as long as it's someone else's witch being hunted,” says the contemporary novelist and prominent ex-Mormon Walter Kirn. These same Democrats are silent when big wigs pump big money into their own favorite candidates’ campaigns.

I bet if I dig deep enough, I would find Romney's Israel trip was set up by Adelson as well.

No. If Israel were the same kind of evil as the evil it is surrounded by the nation would not have the support of American Christians, much less America.

If Israel strapped suicide vests on its children do you really think that American Christians and Jews would support the country because of some shared historical bonds? Not even close.

But they don't. Jews and Christians are historically AND religiously tied. Christians see Jews as part of their own religion.

Jews and Muslims are much closer to each other historically and religiously than either is to Christianity. Yet we dont have the same relationship with Saudi Arabia as we do with Israel.
No, it is based on common outlook and shared ideas about freedom and democracy.

Big disagreement there. We believe in different Testaments, one born of the other. Still, the final word there is from God, not you, not me.

Sheldon Adelson is the most corrupt gazillionair there is and is campaigning for Romney right now over there. He also owns the Israeli daily newspaper Israel HaYom. I am sure he has his fingers in everything over there and wants Obama out, so it makes me wonder if Adelson has his finger in this too.

Why in the world would anyone campaign in Israel for an American politician? They can't vote.

Ye of little knowledge.

Many Israelis enjoy dual citizenship with the US.

Yeah..they can vote.

Their mission on the trip was two-fold: to convince Americans in Israel to register to vote -- and cast those votes for Romney -- and to get American expats to convince their relatives back home to vote Republican, too.

“I don’t want to have a president where we have to wonder does he or does he not have Israel’s back,” Fleischer said at a July 10 event in Jerusalem that drew about 120 people. “The choice is between pushing Israel around as President Obama has done, and Governor Romney, who will stand strong by Israel’s side.”

Estimates of the American population in Israel vary from 100,000 to 250,000. The U.S. Consulate in Jerusalem does not offer an official number, saying only that 80,000 Americans live in and around Jerusalem. On their trip, Brooks and Fleischer talked about 150,000 potential voters, a figure that includes both dual U.S.-Israeli citizens and students and other temporary residents here.

Jews and Christians alike await the same prophecies of the old testament to be fulfilled which includes the rebuilding the Temple in Jerusalem and the coming (or second coming) of the messiah. They share the bible. Neither adhere to the Koran.

True but irrelevant.
Both Jews and Muslims look at Christianity as idol worship.

Not all Christians Idol Worship.

Christians are incredibly ignorant as to how Jews see them or possibly the don't even care. They even celebrate Jewish holidays. I assume you've heard the term Judeo-Christian before ?

I dont know any Christians who celebrate Jewish holidays as part of Christian practice.
I dont know what "Judeo-Christian" means, other than as some kind of sop. Because Judaism and Christianity are like night and day.

I do. I have celebrated with them. They are converts from Judaism.

Thanks for explaining the influence of a foreign country's influence on American politics.

Muslims and the Jewish people do not feel that Jesus is really the coming King. So they feel christian's worship an idol meaning Jesus.

You'd be right on European and American Jews that settle in Israel and wrong on many of the Jews that have been in the region for centuries. They are almost indistinquishable from Palestinians.

For religious purposes, the term Sephardim means all Jews who use a Sephardic style of liturgy, and therefore includes most Jews of Middle Eastern background, whether or not they have any historical connection to the Iberian Peninsula. Most of these communities (with some exceptions such as the Yemenites) do in fact use much the same religious ritual as the Sephardim proper and, like them, base their religious law on the Shulchan Aruch without the glosses of Moses Isserles. When used in this sense, "Sephardim" should be translated not as "Spanish Jews" but as "Jews of the Spanish rite". (In the same way, Ashkenazim means "Jews of the German rite", whether or not their families actually originate in Germany.)

Accordingly, in the vernacular of modern-day Jews in Israel and worldwide, especially many Ashkenazi Jews, "Sephardi" has come to be used as an umbrella term for any Jew who is not Ashkenazi. This nomenclature is often perceived as unsatisfactory[who?], and a variety of other terms have been coined.

A term in common use for non-Ashkenazi Jewish communities that historically are not of Spanish descent is Mizrahim, which in Hebrew means "Easterners". In current use, Mizrahi Jews is a convenient way to refer collectively to a wide range of Jewish communities, most of which are as unrelated to each other as they are to either the Sephardi (in the narrower sense) or Ashkenazi communities. They include in particular the communities living in, or coming from, Southern Arabia (Yemen), Mesopotamia (Iraq), Syria, Persia (Iran) and India. The distinction between Sephardim and Mizrahim is not watertight as many communities (e.g. Syrian Jews) are ethnically speaking a mixture between local Jews and later arrivals of Jews from Spain and Portugal.

Moroccan and other North African Jews (sometimes known as "Maghrebi Jews") are closely associated with the Sephardim proper (Jews of Iberian descent), both because the Jewish community of Al-Andalus was itself partly of Maghrebi Jewish origin and because many Sephardim settled in North Africa after their expulsion from Spain.

They share many of the same customs and cuisine.

The practices of many 'Christians' are idol worship, but then most 'Christians' aren't.

And the wailing wall and Mecca aren't idols.

Like David being told time and time again to not build a Temple, Acts 7:49 Heaven is my throne, and earth is my footstool: what house will ye build me? saith the Lord: or what is the place of my rest?

Isaiah 66:1 Thus saith the LORD, The heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool: where is the house that ye build unto me? and where is the place of my rest?

How did that one work out? :)

God is Spirit and Truth, We Worship Him in Spirit and Truth. Throwing Stones, is not His way.

No problemo..

That's what it's supposed to mean. And for Jews cut off from their heritage it probably makes sense. But the reality is that "Judeo-Christian" really means "Christian". And usually Protestant Christian at that.

I know there are Christians who hold seders etc but it is out of curiosity. It isn't mainstream Christian doctrine.

"Judea-Christian" means "Judea-Christian". The Ten Commandments are "Judea-Christian". Mosaic Law may more resemble Hammurabi"s Code, but that's what you end up with, short notice. ;) http://www.constitution.org/ime/hammurabi.htm

"Idolatry is a pejorative term for the worship of an idol, a physical object such as a cult image, as a god,[1] or practices believed to verge on worship, such as giving undue honour and regard to created forms other than God."

Just a quickie definition from the 'net.

A great many so-called Christians do this.

I derive my beliefs and definitions about idol worship from the Torah, not the 'net. So to me all Christians are guilty of it.

You would be Wrong. I for one don't. When in a Church, in Prayer, I generally close my eyes. Want to know why? Want to buy a Vowel? :) I'm in Agreement with you, God is not big on Graven Images, neither was Moses, who shedded a lot of blood over it. The Catholic Bible even has a few Chapters in the Book of Wisdom, relating to the issue, in the form oo Wood, Stone, and Metal, and it it very clearly stated.

Be careful of too much reliance and respect for the Torah, then. It is a slippery slope into forgetting God is alive (for those who believe in God, at least as represented by YHWH).

One cannot have too much respect for the Torah, which is the gift of the Creator. And respect for Torah is commanded in the Torah itself.

The Torah is not God Rabbi. God is God. He likes s Humble, and helpful to one another. We are All His, on His Terms, not yours. 1 Kings Chapter 8 should make it real clear on Who's Prayer He gives Relevance. Ezekiel Chapter 18, lays the terms of Salvation, just as well as the Sermon on the Mountain. Jeremiah Chapter 23, is real clear on reminding us as to when it is time to shut up.

Do you address all your prayers through Jesus Christ? Yes? You are an idol worshipper.

The Torah is G-d's revelation to His people. That is clear from the text itself.
