Dick Cheney Said, "The Debt Doesn't Matter, Reagan Proved That"

Actually, we're lucky Ronny Bluster didn't get Gorby killed and the hard liners back in. And we only had to triple the deficit to get the (war) economy going...pffft!

You're right, the Tea Party is only half racist, and they're very polite about it...

There is not one shred of credible evidence that the Tea Party is racist at all.

A few members might be.

Hell, lots of asswipes in the Democrat Parody spend their political lives relying on being racists, but that doesn't make all Dems racist, either.

The debt matters now.
And it mattered during Carter's and Clinton's terms, if you remember Reagan campaigned against debt when he ran against Carter, but didn't matter during St Ronnie's, Bush I's and Bush II's terms. Anyone see a pattern there?

'I don't worry about the deficit. It's big enough to take care of itself.'
Ronald Reagan

"Reagan proved deficits don't matter."
Dick Cheney

Ed, you're being partisan. Bush Senior broke ranks with his party and raised taxes because he thought deficits mattered.

There's good and evil on both sides. But OODA, the debt has always mattered. Seriously, your quotation makes you look ignorant.

Yes, and look what his party did to him for raising taxes. Now no GOP pol will dare to suggest raising taxes or their career is over.

In Richard Clarke's book he told that in George W. Bush's first cabinet meeting Cheney said, "The Debt Doesn't Matter, Reagan Proved That." He was referring to the fact that in 1981 the debt was less than $1 trillion and when George Herbert Walker Bush left office in 1993 the debt had quadrupled to more than $4 trillion.

Of course during the two terms of George W. Bush he cut taxes twice...in 2001 and 2003 and doubled the national debt from $5.7 trillion to over $11 trillion.

What he meant was, if you're rich and already have it made don't worry...the stock market will do just fine. What we're seeing now is that for 90% of Americans...it does matter.

only in a Rightie world. :cuckoo: The rich..... errr....."job-creators" CAN'T be asked to contribute. Everything must be balanced on the back's of the elderly and the poor dontca' know? :eusa_liar:

Couldn't have said it better.

The weirdest thing which happens in America...in each election, the bible thumping people in the poorest section of our country go to the polls and vote unanimously against their own interest. Check average incomes in LA, MS, NC, SC, TN etc. and look at how they vote. If we ever do away with the ignorant, antiquated electoral college and go to an honest one man, one vote system our democracy will at least have a better chance. Especially when people stop trying to out cowboy one another.

For starters Al Gore would have defeated the makeshift cowboy and Clinton's policies would have stayed in tact. We would have never gone into Iraq(Hussein didn't try to assasinate Clinton's daddy, No TX justice required.) We had a surplus and the national debt was on track to completely pay off by 2012. The tax structure would have stayed the same and wealthy folks in this country would have only tripled their wealth in ten years vs the quadrupling which actually occurred. Many things would have been different if the half a million popular votes Al Gore won by had stood instead of Jeb Bush and his concubine stealing the election for Jeb's brother.

Oh, don't the liberals just love that empty phrase? It's their way of saying, "you have to agree with us! you havta! we know what's best for you, stupid!"

Some of these liberals seem genuinely not to realize what assholes it makes them look like.

Constantly insulting people of faith (you know, the majority of Americans) is another favorite of these liberal douchebags.

It's an old Family Tradition....

11/20/02

"When Bush left the White House, the last debt numbers published by the Bush Regime was $5.66 trillion, when, in fact, the actual size of the debt was about $14 trillion. In other words, the national debt was about three times the stated numbers.

Clinton got very nervous because one of the things he had done very early in the regime was try to get his people to figure out how much the nation was in debt and what the actual size of the then current budget deficit was. Nobody in the Clinton Administration knew. They knew they were inheriting a federal budget deficit.

The Bush Administration had publicly stated that the federal budget deficit for fiscal 1992 was $360 billion. As it turned out, the fiscal budget deficit for 1992 going into calendar year 1993 was over $700 billion.

Like most people in Washington, Clinton understood that Ronald Reagan was a figurehead and that it was really the Bush Cabal, which was running things for all of those 12 years. He also understood that the Bush Cabal had perpetrated the greatest fraud ever committed against the American people and that the Bush Cabal had essentially destroyed the economy of the United States - which in fact they had."

What a silly post. If you ever figure out what "debt held by the public" means, let me know.

Maybe that will change. The south is where all the "Holy Ghost" bullschit reigns supreme.

Since 2005, the Gallup Poll has recorded a downward trend in those who believe the influence of religion is increasing. The record low for this perception was in 1970 when only 14 percent said religion was increasing in influence at that time.

The last time a majority of Americans felt the influence of religion was rising was in December 2001, just months after the 9/11 terrorist attacks, when 71 percent said religious influence was increasing – the highest percentage Gallup Poll recorded since 1957.

Previous polls show that there was a long period of doubt about the influence of religion during the Vietnam War era – from 1965 through 1975, according to the Gallup report. Then, in the 1980s, religious influence was perceived as growing when religious conservatism, or the “religious right,” was gaining prominence during the Ronald Reagan presidency.

In other major findings, the percentage of Americans who believe that religion can answer society’s problems is at an all-time low, with only 53 percent saying religion “can answer all or most of today’s problems.”

The poll comes during an economic crisis and at a time when the vast majority of Americans believe the U.S. economy is the nation’s greatest challenge.

Meanwhile, over the last several decades, the percentage of those who perceive religion as “largely old-fashioned and out of date” has been on a continuous rise. The latest poll found that 28 percent believe it’s old-fashioned.

There's good reason why the aforementioned southern U S(Bible Belt) is where most of the evangelistic contingency resides.

One more thing...Rick Perry asked the people of the state of Texas to pray for rain a few months ago and then the state caught fire. How's that working for you?

While you wait and hope (in vain) that demographics shift over the next several decades to match your ridiculous bigotry and insecurity, the reality is that mindless bashing of the faithful is not a winning political move. Of course liberal nobodies like you who will never run for or amount to anything can chortle with your fellow androgynous airheads at cocktail parties and circle-stroke your egos as you indulge in hateful, unamerican rhetoric because, really, who the fuck cares what you say?

" I came to know Jesus Christ for myself and embrace him as my Lord and savior.

"My Christian faith, then, has been a sustaining force for me over these last few years, all the more so when Michelle and I hear our faith questioned from time to time," he said to a crowd of about 4,000 at the Washington Hilton hotel. "We are reminded that ultimately what matters is not what other people say about us, but whether we're being true to our conscience and true to our God. 'Seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you, as well.

Yeah...methinks anybody who believes the creator of the universe chose to drop by and leave the only keys to the kingdom with a bunch of ignorant goat herders who believed the earth was flat and did animal sacrifices has their heads up their arses so far that no wonder they don't see the light.

Also...you might make note of the fact that the jews wrote all that virgin birth, healing by touching, walking on water, feeding thousands with two fish and five loaves then gathering 12 baskets of leftovers etc. and now they don't even believe it themselves.

As far as politicians believing in ancient god worship...they're either also ignorant or know that they can't win without the pretense of believing. 'Course I can't imagine a politician telling a lie! LMAO!

To the GOP the national debt is only important when they are out of power.

When they're IN power then its SPEND! CUTS TAXES OR BILLIONAIRES! and SPEND SPEND SPEND some more on DEFENCE AND WARS OF EMPIRE.

Yes, yes, you have established that not only do you fail to understand politics, but that you are too hopelessly dim-witted to grasp one of the fundamental aspects of the human condition itself. Like most atheists, you want to parade your disability around as if it is something to boast about, your incredible self-obsession blinding you to anything outside your insignificant and deluded little ego.

The what if premise. Begging for the right to trample minorities.
