Republicans on the USMB go on endlessly that Democrats are all on welfare and Republicans and Red States pay for everything.

It all comes down to dollars and cents.

Look at a map of the states, it's easy to see why the difference.

Education if very important. It's true that you can spend a lot of money on degrees that are pretty much worthless as far as a good paying job. But a good degree is better than no degree.

And regardless what Republicans say, college is NOT bad for America.

It's like the bottom of all four categories are nearly solid Red.

How many of those states at the bottom are part of Appalachia?

If the GOP is so good at ending poverty, then explain Appalachia. Or even Red States.

Democrats need to fight smarter and harder if we want to save this country. Republicans can't do it. They don't have the sense, the education nor the tools. And they are too easily led by a con man.

You don’t think there are large numbers of negroes and Latinos in “red states” that are collecting welfare?

Let me ask a pointed question: Exactly what did Obama do during his 8 years in office to eradicate poverty in Appalachia and the surrounding southern states? ...

Work on getting blacks off welfare and be more self sufficiant. One of the first things he tried to do was shut down a successful charter school for minorities. He had to stop because of the uproar of the people. Seems he wanted blacks to fail. Even a black democrat needs to keep minorities uneducated and on welfare for a vote.

Firstly, the sources are bogus....CNN? Really? Taxfoundation.org? Really? The Tax Foundation is a wingnut think tank which publishes slanted economic papers about politically charged issues to push a libertarian perspective. So the information presented is hardly reliable. It's mostly propaganda.

Secondly, All states contain both liberal and conservative voters (i.e., are "purple") and only appear blue/red on the electoral map because of the winner-take-all system used by most states in the Electoral College

The problem with OP is it assumes Red states means states with few or any democrats and or liberals. totally untrue. But read on....

Now, back in the 1990's NYC was a major shit-hole.

But, between increased policing, and gentrification dumping NYC's Blacks, and Puerto Ricans onto Atlanta, Orlando, Miami, Newburgh, Bridgeport, Poughkeepsie, Middle-Town, among other cities outside of NYC there's been a major improvement in the form of crime at least.

Now, cost of living is a bit different story, but if you're a homeowner you're likely to make out well, renters just piss their cash away.
