Democrats try to ram through Puerto Rican Statehood bill before Jan 3rd

You do realize that a big chunk of the original DC was removed years ago right?
Yeah, Virginia took its land back.

Now Maryland can take its land back and we repeal the 23rd and that solves the complaint. This leaves Congress only direct control of a small area around the major federal buildings.

Until that happens, if you don’t like it, move, because we don’t do capital city-states in a country where the capital was designed to not give favoritism to the people of any one state.

So we have established that land can be removed from DC.

What becomes of it then is another issue

When you see the image of Schumer you see something wicked looking. It is not easy to dismiss. This man is an evil caricature of reality. Crossing the line and having no guilt You can see him chuckling when he is near old Joe at times. He knows.

No, it’s Maryland takes the land and people or nothing, and none of this is happening without a Constitutional Amendment.

Will Puerto Rico be the next US state? Independence bill goes to US House vote today - as Dem representatives 'look forward to making history'

A bill to vote on Puerto Rico's status within the United States is headed to the house for a vote after being approved by a House committee on Wednesday.

The Puerto Rico Status Act will determine whether the island becomes a state, and independent nation, or a sovereignty associated with the US

Puerto Ricans could move a step closer to a referendum on whether the island should become a U.S. state when the House of Representatives votes Thursday on a bill outlining the process.

A House committee approved the Puerto Rico Status Act on Wednesday, paving the way for the full House vote. The bill was cosponsored by Representative Nydia Velazquez, a Democrat from New York.
The bill was also lead by Rep. Steny Hoyer, a Democrat from Maryland.

If the bill passes the House, it will need 60 votes in the closely divided Senate and Democratic President Joe Biden's signature to become law.

Puerto Rican independence bill goes to US House

No problem, we will just divide a red state up into four states.....Six new GOP Senators. ;)
Go ahead Republicans, letting this pass is equivalent to cutting this country's throat. We conservatives will have a hard time surviving the border invasion and all the left-wing votes it will produce without adding another welfare state to the union. FJB and all you left-wing pricks that think this is a good idea.

Key is they need sixty votes in the Senate, so not happening…

Here’s an idea . Maybe Dems just think that American citizens should have proper representation.

You obviously see this in political terms only.
Nope, that's not it. You want more senate seats. Just like DC. You want to cut it up into a jigsaw puzzle so you can extract another 2 seats there .

Like was stated, you wouldn't do this is you had even a hint that this could give more power to the Republicans.

Because you all want it. It's obvious someone has done the research a d figured out that Puerto Rico will lead to lore democrat seats, if it weren't so, we'd not be talking about it.
It's the oldest colony in the world. Puerto Rico has held referendums on desiring statehood for decades. It's bigger than that. The citizens of Puerto Rico deserve a right to self determination.

I'm all for their statehood if they want it, but let's just be honest about WHY the dems are pushing for it.

The bill that passed the house does not allow for the people of PR to choose the status quo.
Thus, it does not allows the people the right to self-determination.
In fact, it is structured so the people of PR are most likely to choose statehood.
