Democrats Protected AIG Bonuses

I gave you his explaination already.

why do you presiust with this stupidity.

It was teh legal entanglements of a too broadly worded restriction which would cause a shit load of legal trouble in getting things done.

Instead you want to may hey out of nothing, nice try.

AGAIN, if it is all legal and above board and REQUIRED, why are the Democrats making a stink NOW?

There just ain't no low that too damn low for a Democwat to go! It's just that simple.

then why the false outrage over the bonuses....why not get in front of the story and say that......

oh because the obama admin fucked uped....so they attack the "rich".......all part of the plan to deamonize the rich......

funny no one seems to be pissed at the elite rich ruling class.....the just voted themselves a raise......funded their retirement plans by bailing out aig and the banks......still fly around on jets and have full use of their expense accounts......

all you are finding out is the new boss is the same as the old boss.....

Then maybe you should read his reasoning?

It was about the legal entanglements of stripping exsisting contracts.

You gotta admit, this looks very bad for Chris Dodd, if it is true.

And keep in mind, all these politicians are slick and greedy. Chris Dodd may have just thought he would get away with doing this for the exec's, who did donate a lot to him. He should have seen this coming.

And if he didn't have the brains to realize this would be a problem with the American people? We didn't even want AIG to get the money in the first place, let alone bonus'.

So Bush and Obama say that it was necessary. So lets say we swallow that. Fine. But bonus'?

And if this is true, and it is true because we see it happening in failed companies all over the country where executives are getting millions of dollars for failing, or when they get fired, this has to stop.

But remember, I/we have been crying about this for years. It was the people on the right that were defending executive pay. They said we hate the rich and that we were jealous because these people were smart enough to make it to the top, and we were just being whiners. Remember?

So I find it ironic that now the GOP are screaming foul about executive bonus'? Where were they the last 8 years. Remember, this is partially how the executives have bankrupted their companies on purpose so they could renig on pensions. Go chapter 11 and start over fresh, without owing their retired employees a thing. Just put it on the US government.

But this is why the GOP is very good at playing politics. They are lousy at governing, but great politicians.

The blogosphere is afire over this Democrat-Dodd / AIG connection story.

Yet more...

Oh, the horror! The blogoshere is on fire!!! What a silly twit you are, not to mention a hypocrite.

The hypocrite would be Dodd ( amongst others ) .....
If this new articles is true, then yes Dodd is a hypocrite. But Sinatra's pretending that somehow the Republicans on that list aren't hypocrites..... Makes her a hypocrite.

false outrage

Democrats have no idea what they are doing... it's as easy to explain as that.

And for 8 years you did? Bullshit. You're pissing into the wind again and soiling yourself with your self appointed morality.

I will wait to see what more information comes out. Too often this turns out to be spin to damage someone and when it isn't proved, then they just let it drop.

If he is as fucked up as some of your republicans, then he should be punished.

Your moral outrage could have been used during the last 8 years on multiple occasions.

You have to be kidding even for you. All your repubs are moral examples of only the best?

Shit, if your just going to say you hate dems, then quit the piddle fucking around and say it.

How about Scoot libby outing a covert CIA agent?

Both parties have assholes. Now maybe you might want and wait to see how this comes out. If it isn't true, you will just ignore it and move on.

scotter libby worked for clinton first......he was a clinton double agent............new boss same as the old boss....

Do you have data on when he approved the bonuses? That might be relevant.:eusa_whistle:

I suggest you take just a moment to read the links provided in this thread.

Dodd inserted an amendment to the stimulus bill last month - thus ensuring the AIG bonuses would be protected. By utlizing the amendment method to the stimulus bill, Dodd ensured there would be no debate specifically tied to the amendment.

Tie this in with his #1 contribution status via AIG, and you have a clear violation of the voters' trust, and a clear abuse of his legislative power.

The outrage posturing that he is engaging in now is stagecraft - and a smoke and mirrors ploy to divert attention from his complicity in this fiasco. This link provides the gist of things - read it fully to its conclusion.

First of all...Scooter Libby didn't out her...second, she wasn't covert. But don't let facts get in the way of your story Ray.

If anything, all this story proves is that some Democrats are just as bad as the Republicans when it comes to being in Corporate America's pocket.

And the GOP have the luxury of saying they are against the bank/aig bailouts. The only Republican who gets any blame is Bush.

Republicans are great politicians, but lousy at governing.

Why was Scooter convicted? He lied.

They stopped short of convicting him of outting Valerie Plames, but come on you fucking political hack. You know Scooter did it. And we all know Cheney told him to do it.

You have revisionist history syndrome.

The only reason you found out about this is because the Democrats insisted that Bush/Paulson take this out of the original bailout:

Decisions by the Secretary pursuant to the authority of this Act are non-reviewable and committed to agency discretion, and may not be reviewed by any court of law or any administrative agency.

The deal proposed by Paulson is nothing short of outrageous. It includes no oversight of his own closed-door operations. It merely gives congressional blessing and funding to what he has already been doing, ad hoc. He plans to retain Wall Street firms as advisors to decide just how to cut deals to value and mop up Wall Street's dubious paper. There are to be no limits on executive compensation for the firms that get relief, and no equity share for the government in exchange for this massive infusion of capital.
