As the battle over the citizenship question on the census rages on in Washington, many are warning counting illegal aliens will dilute the voting power of American citizens.

If they don’t have to claim they are illegal how do you know they are on the census? This is so beyond the realm of common sense it is unbelievable. What is the definition of a census? Survey to ascertain the makeup of a population. Male, female, old young, black brown.

The census determines how many representatives states get in the house. How many electoral votes. If California is 30% illegal and there is no way to separate them from the citizens, there is a chance California’s vote will dilute the vote in other states. Welfare and grants are also passed out in relationship to population. There are 20 million illegals in the country. If there is no way to identify illegals voting then there is huge leeway for voter fraud. That the Supreme Court does not see this as a legitimate inquiry of a constitutionally mandated action to protect our republic is beyond the pale. Whether the commerce dept made a good case or not is not relevant to the decision. The court should only have ruled on whether this was legal or not. Justice Roberts has traded jurisprudence for politics and it is shameful. That we are unable to determine the makeup of our population means we are unable to determine the makeup of the electorate. The so-called Russia interference is kindergarten stuff compared to this.

Oh, I see. If it's the Democrats that are pushing it, it's bad. But if it's something the Republicans are pushing, it's good.

For instance, I live in an extremely Red area. They shut down the voting polls in the blue dominant areas and kept the ones in the Red areas open. Those that are more likely to vote blue are not as likely to travel very far due to many reasons. But since the Republicans own the system, they get away with it.

Then there is the Gerrymandering. Both sides do it. But the Republicans are the real masters at it. They take what should be a blue state or a purple state and transform it into a Red State. One state, I don't remember the one, has a really thin strip that runs almost the whole state that is attached to a different part of the state. The results is, the state is transformed into a Red State. Gerrymandering should be illegal but it all depends on which party is doing it and which party is in power at the state level and who appointed the state judges. While the Democrats also do it on a small scale, the Republicans have made it an Olympic Event.

I just love the "19 illegals were found to have voted". Wow, 19 out of how many hundreds of millions? In the State of Colorado, we did have 3 (count them, 3) illegal votes where they voted twice. No illegals aliens voted. Those three were all three Republicans and one was the Chair for the state Republican Party. The states do a pretty good job on preventing illegal votes being cast so this is just a BS made up problem to scare small children.

Now, about the citizenship question. Now that it's been publicized, let's say you have that question. Since the Census is done pretty loose, what's to keep someone from lying and saying they are a citizen when they aren't? Jose has gone to all the trouble to fake a birth certificate and a SS card. He even has a drivers license. That same birth certificate is also used by all his 5 cousins in the neighborhood. On one job, I knew 6 Lupes. I went to school with the one Lupe Sanchez but there were 4 other Lupe Sanchezes that worked there as well. They were all using Lupe #1's paperwork to get legal documentation. We all knew it was going on and looked the other way because, man, those guys could work. lupe #1 worked as an interpreter because the other 4 didn't speak a word of english. The Census taker won't have a clue, and frankly, won't care.

The system has always been broken. Asking if a person is a citizen or not is stupid. Using the Census for what it's used for is also stupid. It would be much better to use State IDs and Drivers Licenses for that instead. You would get a much better count if to get those documents you also had to declare your family.
