Americans oppose Trump's border policies, immigration policies and tax policy to start with. The polls have been remarkably consistent in showing that Biden has the largest lead as the RCP polling average shows Biden with a 9 point lead. The fact is that if someone needs medical care then you give it to them. You don't let them die. That is compassion and Americans are compassionate.
