Defund NPR campain

I don't think any one 'fears' PBS.... we just don't think we should fund shit when it is clearly promoting a political agenda. You want to pay for it, great. I don't want to. You should respect my right not to fund liberal media.

By asserting PBS and NPR are "promoting a political agenda" you're 1) ignorant of their programming, or 2) a liar putting out RW propaganda, or 3) ignorant and a liar.

It is obvious the usual echo chamber members who have posted on this thread have never watched PBS or listened to NPR and don't have a clue as to the depth and diversity of radio and TV programming. One may excuse the echo chamber of their collective ignorance, willfull and otherwise, for they simply repeat whatever their favorite talking head tells them.
Perhaps you can answer the question that no one else seems to want to touch:

Why should the government be in the news business?

You haven't showed that they are, Linkless One.

'
Precisely why the right so fears PBS.

but then I suppose many love to be controlled by the corporate controlled media.
You're wrong. The government has no business disseminating news. That's the conservative opposition to NPR.

What happened to the Left in this nation? Used to none of you would accept anything from the government. Now, you implicitly trust the government with news, with healthcare, with managing your daily lives.

Can you back that up with a link?

Oh, shit - I just realized who I was asking. :cuckoo: Never mind.
If government's paying part of the bill, government has a say.

Why do you have such a blind trust of government?

NPR & PBS have been pushing Liberal/Democrat propaganda for many years. I can't think of any Conservatives who are on NPR. All of their hosts are far Left-leaning. I will support their defunding unless i see some major changes. NPR needs to add some Conservatives or they should no longer receive Taxpayer Dollars. The last straw for me was when they took all that cash from George Soros and then fired Juan Williams. They're a sham at this point.

Truth and facts and reality ALL have a Liberal bias, yes.
To those unwilling to acknowledge any other point of view, yes.

Geeeze yeah, I think we should at least pull the public money from that ol' Faux News. :cuckoo:

Yep auction off their public licenses to other media outlets. That'll teach um to be fairly-one-sided huh?

You killed the thread!!!!!!

Oh great, now they're going to take their ball and go home. Hahahahaha.

Easy. He lacks confidence in his own abilities, likely for very good reasons.

SAME for anything government becomes involved in. It's best to smash that camel's nose when it appears under the tent and break it good.

I think it's a GRAND idea...Taxpayers need NOT fund them anymore.
Taxpayer funding is only a very small percentage of NPR's operating budget, Tommy Boy.

So sorry that you won't be able to shut up the voices of progress.
Then pay for it your own self.

At least you acknowledge NPR's progressive bent...and the fact that it can't succeed without being forced on America by the government.

Progress is not the same as the political label of Progressive.

Tell your mom she should have sent you to public school!

NPR says it's 'imperative' that its federal funding not be cut
NPR said it's "imperative" that it receives federal funding in light of a recommended cuts by the leaders of President Obama's fiscal commission.

"Federal funding has been a central component of public radio stations’ ability to serve audiences across the country," NPR said in a statement. "It’s imperative for funding to continue to ensure that this essential tool of democracy survives and thrives well into the future."

Ooops.

You idiots can't have it both ways. You decry "corporate media", because "the corporations direct what news is presented." But you can't say government doesn't have a say in NPR even though it receives Federal money.

Miss the bus again?

Any percentage of taxpayer funding is too much.
Looks like you missed that bus - Blind Boo has already showed that there isn't taxpayer funding.

You killed the thread!!!!!!

You think your link proves NPR is not funded by the taxpayer, what a crock of shit. Information directly from NPR proving its not taxpayer funded. Only for those who dont investigate further.

NPR receives the money to operate from the United States Government, its that simple. The best way to end the funding is to end all the different ways all levels of government collect money, this will end NPR funding.

The linik is a starting point for investigation at best, take a look at how much of those "Contributions" are tax deductible. Is there not a politician named Rockefeller who's Rockefeller brother's fund directly contributes to NPR and rights off the entire amount against taxes.

The money leads to corporations and politicians, socialist and liberals. No wonder they love NPR. Put a "D" for Democrat in front of dog shit and watch the Liberals defend dog shit.

Doesn't matter. It's a waste of money and biased to boot. :eusa_hand:

Government has no business in this business period. Or perhaps you prefer PRAVDA-Type crap funded when you have no say where funds go?

The fact you see only Leftists/Democrats aggressively defending NPR & PBS,really does prove their Bias. If NPR & PBS were only pushing Conservative/Republican propaganda, the Leftists/Democrats would have already had the Government shut them down. Independent studies have proven their bias. They report far more positively on Democrats than they do Republicans. This is just fact. Watching the Left defend NPR & PBS so vigorously, really does tell the story. Case closed.

He cain't hep it...he's uhh viktum of gumbmint skools...and fergot how to thank fer himself...

I haven't watched any cable or network news for about 10 years now but occasionally flip through the radio channels on the way to work and back. NPR usually just sounds like a big circle jerk. That's why I stick to their science stuff on PBS.

Most of their funding comes from private donations and philanthropics.

They still receive 16% of their funding from the federal government - with another 14% from universities (which largely feed from the public trough).

If there programming is so valuable, they should be able to exist with no taxpayer support.

It's also important to note that the Kroc estate avoided an enormous amount of estate taxes by making contributions to NPR.

Can you back that up with a link?

And I thought that avoiding estate taxes was a good thing? Not if you are a Liberal, right?

Say, maybe you could get that fuckhead from Breitphart.com to help create some lying bullshit propaganda (you know some selectively cut video clips that makes it look like NPR worships the devil) that all the connies would buy into too?

Personally I think the FCC should revoke the Faux News license to broadcast.

On what grounds? That you don't like them?

Troll.
