As a D&D fan, I'm excited to see that they will launch a MMORPG.
See Here

Here's my question:
Can D&D jump into the market this late and succeed?

It's very easy.

Make the game fun.

Put in lots of monsters, lots of different places to see, and most importantly lots of loot, and it will succeed.

Course there is Vanguard coming out as well. Not sure when, but it will compete.

No one game will hold the market.

If they hold true to D&D, they'll draw away the portion of the WoW market that hates all the OMFGUBERROXXOR items and is irritated about caster itemization...which sucks donkey balls in WoW.

I play WoW now an it's ok, but like all on line games, tends to consume waaaay too much of my time.

I love D&D though; in fact I still have an original boxed set of basic D&D; the one that comes with a crayon to color your own dice! I will probably at least try D&D on line

Yes it probably will consume about 1/5 of my life.
I remember the first D&D campaign I ever played on a computer.
Dragon Lance Saga.
Champoins of Krynn, Dark Knights of Krynn, and The Dark Queen of Krynn.

I still have every D&D character I ever made.
I still have all my miniatures for every character I ever played in
D&D AND AD&D. I also painted them myself.
