An Englewood man is charged with fatally shooting a 15-year-old boy while free on a recognizance bond and electronic monitoring as he awaited trial for allegedly possessing a stolen handgun.

And police say he was carrying another handgun when they arrested him last week.

I support a life sentence on any criminal who uses a gun for an actual gun crime..... and 30 years if a criminal is caught in possession of a gun, even if they are not using it at that moment for crime.

This will dry up gun crime over night. Criminals will stop using guns for robberies, rapes and murders.....and those who do will be gone forever......

Criminals will also stop walking around with guns in their pants......which is the leading cause of random gang shootings in our cities. if they are stopped by police, with a gun in their pants, they are gone for 30 years...they will stop carrying those guns, and random gang violence will end.

You implement this with two other things...

1) No More Bargaining Away the Gun Charge.........it must be against the law to bargain away a gun charge as part of a plea deal....this stops.

2) When a criminal is arrested for any crime, and booked in...they will be read the announcement that any use of a crime is a life sentence without parole, owning or carrying a gun as a felon is a 30 year sentence without parole....when they are released from custody...the same will be read to them again....when they meet their parole officer it will be read to them again.....the U.S. government will also buy and send out Public announcements on this policy on t.v. radio. and cable......

Mass shooters are different..... but with only 93 people killed in mass public shootings in 2018, they are not the major problem in gun crime.

2aguy, I agree with stiffer penalties for gun-related crimes, especially possessing a stolen firearm. However, criminal human nature being what it is, I doubt it would change much. In my Criminal Justice courses, I learned that, in the Middle-Ages, while pickpockets were being publicly hanged, pickpockets would work the crowd watching the hanging. Low income, poor living conditions, lousy Democrat run schools and youths seeing the opportunity to make more money selling drugs, are factors that need to be addressed. Trump has created "opportunity zones," supposedly to help the inner city crowd, but is it fostering minority business opportunities, or just opening up low wage service industry positions?
One thing that showed promise in reducing recidivism in Arizona, was Sheriff Arpaio's way of dressing and housing prisoners. In more temperate climates, however, prisoners living in tents from October to May, would not be acceptable by legislators in that area, as well as the SCOTUS.
I do think that making it mandatory for all those incarcerated, to wear hot-pink ballet tutu's, would have them thinking twice about doing something that would lead to wearing such garments again.

Prosecutors: Boy fatally shot by man who was on "affordable bail" for gun charge

An Englewood man is charged with fatally shooting a 15-year-old boy while free on a recognizance bond and electronic monitoring as he awaited trial for allegedly possessing a stolen handgun.

And police say he was carrying another handgun when they arrested him last week.

It’s the latest in a string of violent crimes identified by CWBChicago that were allegedly committed by people who were on affordable bail while awaiting trial for gun crimes and other serious felonies.

Last July, prosecutors charged Coleman with felony unlawful use of a weapon after police allegedly found a loaded handgun near his seat during a traffic stop on the 1900 block of West 57th Street. The gun, which had an extended ammunition magazine, had been reported stolen in Lafayette, Indiana, police said.


Judge John Lyke released Coleman on a recognizance bond with electronic monitoring the next day, according to court records.

In October, police executed a search warrant at Coleman’s home and allegedly found suspected narcotics packaging, a digital scale, and a 9-millimeter bullet.

Prosecutors charged him with possessing ammunition without a valid Firearm Owner’s ID card and Judge Susana Ortiz ordered him held without bail for violating the terms of his July bail bond.

So.....if you are a witness......do you want to testify against this guy if the democrat party judge is going to let him out on cashless bond?

My solution to gun crime....in particular gun crime created by the policies of the democrat party?

I support a life sentence on any criminal who uses a gun for an actual gun crime..... and 30 years if a criminal is caught in possession of a gun, even if they are not using it at that moment for crime.

This will dry up gun crime over night. Criminals will stop using guns for robberies, rapes and murders.....and those who do will be gone forever......

Criminals will also stop walking around with guns in their pants......which is the leading cause of random gang shootings in our cities. if they are stopped by police, with a gun in their pants, they are gone for 30 years...they will stop carrying those guns, and random gang violence will end.

You implement this with two other things...

1) No More Bargaining Away the Gun Charge.........it must be against the law to bargain away a gun charge as part of a plea deal....this stops.

2) When a criminal is arrested for any crime, and booked in...they will be read the announcement that any use of a crime is a life sentence without parole, owning or carrying a gun as a felon is a 30 year sentence without parole....when they are released from custody...the same will be read to them again....when they meet their parole officer it will be read to them again.....the U.S. government will also buy and send out Public announcements on this policy on t.v. radio. and cable......

That is how you stop gun crime over night.

Mass shooters are different..... but with only 93 people killed in mass public shootings in 2018, they are not the major problem in gun crime.

The value in my plan......it actually targets the individuals actually using guns to commit crimes and murder people....

It does not require new background check laws, it does not require gun licensing, licensing gun owners, gun registration, new taxes, fees or regulations on guns...

Also....a nurse, with a legal gun, driving from Pennsylvania, to New Jersey, will not be considered a gun criminal.....that will end. No, this is how you ensure that our prisons will be overcrowded and that other felons will have to be released for all these "gun" felons who are coming through the pipe.

You do realize that the tougher you make the sentencing, the more likely everything will then go to trial which will clog up our already overloaded court system to the point of no return.

You have a criminal who has a record of using illegal guns .....and then, predictably, uses one to commit murder...and your solution is to just let them out?

Locking up violent gun criminals is how you reduce gun crime. Anything else is just play acting ....
