Cops held mentally ill man down on scorching asphalt until his skin literally melted off

So far 109 Police Officers died in the line of duty in 2019. Maybe Officers "screwed up" or maybe they acted appropriately when dealing with a mentally deranged person but it's tough to deal with fake news that screams "a person's flesh literally melted off" when common sense indicates that it is impossible.

Cops Held Mentally Ill Man Down on Scorching Asphalt Until His Skin Literally Melted Off
(FTP) — A California man is suing the city of Citrus Heights and several of its police officers for the horrific injuries — skin literally melting off — when police forced him onto the ground of a restaurant parking lot when the temperature was more than 100 degrees outside. The city finally settled this lawsuit, but it was just learned that police and officials forced the victim’s attorney and the victim to stay silent about it. Luckily, the press is not subject to the same terms.

Well you got your ggood guys and you got your bad guys but then you have these looons who think they won't get punished because they are on the

Another stupid pig that FNCCEO will no doubt defend that ought to be busted off the force, have the book thrown at and be charged with criminal assault.

SURE, you dumb, fucking jackass! Just lay here burning your skin off until I complete my arrest!

Woo hoo! Shout out!

Or you COULD look at it this way - Don't do things that would provoke a police officer(s) to HAVE to take you to the ground. Problem solved.

I agree.

Policemen are not psychics....how were they to know the person was mentally ill.

They are here to do their duty.
Supporter of police abuse of citizens.

That seems a fairly silly response, because there is NOTHING at all a person could possibly do that would warrent them being forced on to the ground.
If they committed a crime, you hand cuff and arrest them.
At no time is it better, easier, appropriate, or legal, to knock them to the ground.
You ARE an idiot. Now go away.

Police are acting criminally, so are you complicit?
Again, you ARE an idiot. Now go away.

This is a simple case.
The police totally screwed up, did stupid, harmful, and illegal things.
That is obvious and beyond contention.
So what the heck are you even trying to contest this?
The laws is clear.
Police can NOT legally do this.
There is no way for police to have that kind of authority.
They get their authority from delegation from us.
So if police can do something, that mean we have to authorize them to do it, and that means we have to be able to do it.
So are you REALLY going to try to content that anyone can knock someone else to the ground, under any circumstances?
Damn, you just don't listen, do you? You ARE an idiot. Now GO AWAY.

Because what you seem to be implying, that police legally can impose a penalty through deliberately inflicting pain, without trial.
And if that is what you are trying to say, you are not must wrong, but dangerously crazy.
So you had better start explaining yourself?

wow....all these Communists whimpering here

it's disgusting

Communism, socialism, capitalism, etc., are economic systems that have nothing to do with individual rights and what authorities we may decide to let police borrow from us.

Yup and they cant tell the temperature either. Nor can they distinguish what a real gun looks like verses a fake one. It amazes us how many times law enforcement has not used common sense or their heads to make a non lethal judgement. So many lives have been lost and so many bad cops have gone unpunished. They make it bad for the good cops and their department as a whole.

First of al, over 90% of police fatalities are from traffic accidents, and have nothing to do with criminals.
The reality is that police do not have a particularly dangerous job at all.
It is pretty much in the middle, with 7/11 clerks, taxi drivers, farmers, steel workers, etc., having far more dangerous jobs.
Second is that hot asphalt WILL most definitely literally melt off a person's skin.
Common sense absolutely does indicate it happens all the time, such as when a kid makes the mistake of walking on hot asphalt barefoot.

They don't really need to tell temperature.
Anyone should know that asphalt is as hard as rock, and taking someone down on asphalt runs a very high risk of great bodily harm to the person, their clothes, possessions, etc. No sane person would do that.

WRONG!

When the air is 100 degrees, a black material with the capability of absorbing more heat than air can, would easily be over 140 degrees, well above the temperature that would cause 2nd degree burns and blistering.
Blistering is not "melting". I'm not defending the cop's judgement.
I used to live in Sacramento and know how hot it gets there.
But I'm against the sort of hyperbole and hysteria that inflames passions like this.

In no way can any human's skin "melt". It's just absurd. It's not bad enough to say this man's skin got second degree burns and serious blistering?

Sometimes saying 'pretty please' doesn't actually do the job.

Resisting arrest?

How can a person's skin melt off in 100 degree temperature? Maybe the asphalt was fresh and sticky.

It is called BLISTERING. If the full sun is shining on 100° black asphalt, it will store and hold the heat and be FAR HOTTER than the air temp! Or have you never gone out in the summer in your bare feet? Next summer, get down on a hot summer day and press your face to the asphalt and let us know.

Blistering is not what caused third degree burns.

Dumbass!

Blistering IS melting.
When you blister, the skin separates and peels right off.
The appearance when it happens, is that of as if the skill had melted, due to the liquid build up behind the skin, and the skin no longer being tight to the body.

But apparently you are right that there were 3rd degree burns as well.
But 3rd degree burns are not as visible as 2nd degree burns.

{...
On June 23, 2017, the pavement was estimated to have been around 170 degrees, eight degrees higher than what it takes to instantly destroy human skin. James Bradford Nelson III was thrown to the ground by police and held down, causing his skin to melt off, resulting in third-degree burns on his face, torso, legs, and buttocks.

So what if someone is resisting arrest?
That does not mean you have any reason to knock them down on hard, hot, asphalt.
Why not just shoot them all instead of arresting anyone then?
If you allow punishment before trial, then why bother with a trial at all?

When someone describes burns as melting, that is 2nd degree burns, not third degree.
Third degree burns are where skin is chared away, not just appearing as if melted from the blistering.

No. Blistering is not melting. Blistering is characteristic of a second degree burn, and that is not "melting". A third degree burn cause destruction of the skin tissue.

Don't be a dumbass and agree with some off the wall source that is spewing lies to make the cops look badly.
