This story was in the news this week, a Cajun restaurant in Indiana was robbed and the owner decided to offer 25% off to anyone who will now carry a concealed weapon when they dine…..he realizes that that will deter future robbers.
I was listening to Amy and Dan on 560 am here in Chicago and they interviewed the owner of the Restaurant…he said their has been a slew of robberies at bars and restaurants in the area, on Friday nights near closing……and this guy came in and waited in line with the rest of the customers at the counter…..when he was alone he mumbled to the cashier…it took her 3 times to understand what he was saying…he wanted her to stay put and to empty the register….since it took 3 times to understand him the manager came over and realized it was a robbery…..he told the robber that the register could only be opened with a sale…the guy then just grabbed the tip jar and left.
The owner said the cameras in the place were useless since they only looked down…and the guy and the other robbers in the area are wearing hats and hoodies and putting their heads down…
So….after the robber left another customer came up to the owner and told him that he could tell something bad was going on at the counter. He told the owner that he had a concealed carry permit and was carrying a gun and was waiting to see how things played out. He wasn't going to do draw his weapon unless it was absolutely necessary…but he said he had their backs if anything would have happened..
And right there the owner said the idea to offer a discount to concealed carriers came into his mind……
He also said that a friend who owns a bar in town was also robbed….bars of course being gun free zones for the most part…..the guy in that case had customers hand over their wallets…..
