Going to the moon did not have to be socialism. NASA does not get value for the dollar. To be fair. Back in the beginning, the money needed could only be provided by government. Politicians, corrupted corporations, environmental obsurdidties, extreme government quota rules and more makes the cost much more then it has to be. It can be said because of this astronauts died. I believe technology has been transferred to NASA from other government projects to make them look better. Nothing is more of an example of this then the SLS rocket being built.
