The NRA is not a political organization. In fact they are tax exempt. They do support the people that support their cause which is the second amendment. But if you go to open secrets, you will find they have donated to candidates of both parties.

That, of course, explains Wayne LaPierre's speech at CPAC telling people to be scared of socialism.

The NRA is a gun group that represents millions of Americans that support gun rights. They are not a political group no more than the AMA or the teachers unions. All kinds of professions and groups support the Democrat party as well, but that doesn't mean their group is political in the sense it's why they are there.
