Climate Change Obsession Is a Real Mental Disorder

And this is the "DERP! DERP! CONSPIRACY! Q-CULT! PEDOS! SOCIALISTS!" ranting that the lowest sort of scum clings to, in order to justify their calls for brownshirt violence.

We're pretty much running through all of the stupid and immoral denier arguments here.

And all of the stupid and immoral responses.

A "mental disorder"???
When people will say anything... no matter how fucking stupid.

This is what you said.

What is there to discuss.

Is it possible that all the doom and gloom is playing into some the mental illness we have around us ?

I am not saying yes or no.

I read the article and while I don't think it is a core problem, it could certainly be exacerbating others.

I don't know, how about how Allysia Finley is taking something like mental disorders and using it to attack people for something she doesn't agree with.
People with mental disorders have mental disorders and don't need fucking assfuckwipes like Allysia Fucking Finley writing complete and UTTER CRAP using mental disorders as, basically, an insult.

Here is a graph of oxygen in water. The chart looks it is for fresh water. I think salt water is about 20% less all the way across. As you can see a shift in temperature from 25 to 35 C (18 F) reduces solubility by about 20%. Even at 70 C you are only at 50%.

So heat isn't going to totally remove oxygen.

Now, I don't claim to be an expert on ocean physiology, so if there is something else going on it might further affect solubility. Fresh water addition is going to increase it....but not by much.

Really?
See how well you breathe with 50% of the oxygen gone from your environment.

When the weather gets hot, you get kills.
You get red-tide and more kills.

And when you get enough, the food supply dies from the bottom up.

Temps are never going to hit 70 C.

And the incremental increase might not be measurable.

I actually think she is mocking those who are making the claims.

I could be wrong, but that is how I see it.

She cites a Bloomburg article and also cites the WHO who are saying there are connections to mental health.

I'll go back and read it and see if I misunderstood.

Then she needs to be more careful.

That's NOT the weather!

Being environmentally conscious is 1 thing, thinking man can effect the weather is another.

The weather is just about anything dealing with sticking your head out the window doing a forecast. When we screw with the balance of things like pouring extra carbons into the atmosphere or setting off a Nuke that tears a giant hole in the Ozone Layer, it affects the weather. BTW, the Czar Bomb Nuke did exactly that it that affected the entire ozone layer around the world. Any guess how that affected the "Weather'?

Mostly, we can affect the weather in a negative way. If we stop with screwing it up, Mother Nature has a tendency to correct things.

Stop crying so loud. We are going to do these things with or without you.. But you just keep paying those taxes to pay for it.

Water temps in the ocean are already exceeding 100 degrees.
I'd call that measurable.

40 C is 104 F
we're almost there sparky.

This provides no context.

What was the average buoy temperature for similar days in the past ? And where is it now ?

This is an opinion piece. Lets' be clear.
Okay, but I have to wonder why you think this adviso is necessary

If heat waves were as deadly as the press proclaims, Homo sapiens couldn’t have survived thousands of years without air conditioning. Yet here were are. Humans have shown remarkable resilience and adaptation—at least until modern times, when half of society lost its cool over climate change.
I didn't catch the press claiming that we faced extinction any time soon.

The article then goes on to describe some interesting circumstances.

Here is a piece of the article:

The New Yorker magazine earlier this month published a 4,400-word piece titled “What to Do With Climate Emotions” by Jia Tolentino, a woman in the throes of such neurosis. “It may be impossible to seriously consider the reality of climate change for longer than ninety seconds without feeling depressed, angry, guilty, grief-stricken, or simply insane,” Ms. Tolentino writes.

“A couple of years ago, reading a climate report on my phone in the early hours of the morning, I went into a standard-issue emotional spiral thinking about it all,” she recalls. “We had also recently had a baby, whose carbon footprint likely already exceeded that of entire villages in Burundi. I was playing whack-a-mole with my consumer desires.”

Ms. Tolentino goes on to describe how climate therapists can help patients cope. “The goal is not to resolve the intrusive feeling and put it away” but, as one therapist advises her, “to aim for a middle ground of sustainable distress.” Even the climate left’s despair must be “sustainable.”

Amazing. We are adding to the already stressed.

Or, as you yourself have told us, it is someone's opinion that we have done so.

Like this Crick chick that post on here that is absolutely obsessed with the thought she is going to die of burning up because taxes are too low on fossil fuels.
I think poster Flash is likely suffering some sort of mental issue as he believes that continuing to pretend I am a woman hurts me in some way.

I am almost certain to die of the failure of one of my two aortic aneurysm repairs long before I could have burned up. And you'll miss me when I'm gone.

You are a climate change pussy.

Absolutely bat shit crazy like a frightened school girl over the thought of my Tundra causing you to die.

You are obsessed with the lies of the AGW scammers that have brainwashed you to believe in this silly bullshit.

Go get your husband to invent a FTL rocket ship to take you a planet where there are no gas stoves, incandescence light bulbs or big ole ass Tundra trucks to cause you to burn up. that is your only way out.

Or, as you yourself have told us, it is someone's opinion that we have done so.

I think the woman in the story is the one saying it was happening to her. I don't think she presented it as an opinion.

However, I think the author of the article is pushing back on this concept.

I am not so sure.

I, again, just have to wonder what it' like to have NEVER lived in a world where all the issues were being pushed in your face on a daily basis with all kinds of commentary and disinformation (not saying there is any here....more in general).

I can see where it might be a real thing.
