Chomsky on IQ and inequality at newlearningonline.com

The first paragraph is 'The Bell Curve: Intelligence and Class Structure in American Life' in a nutshell.

So is Chomsky correct when he says," As to social importance, a correlation between race and mean I.Q. (were this shown to exist) entails no social consequences except in a racist society in which each individual is assigned to a racial category and dealt with not as an individual in his own right, but as a representative of this category … In a non-racist society, the category of race would be of no greater significance [than height]."?

Is it even possible to have a society with no sub groups?

Chomsky loses his "intellectual" status with crap like this. He's peddling lefty politics, not science. OF COURSE we recognize the reality of race. OF COURSE racial groups are relevant. And OF COURSE their IQ differences are going to make a huge difference. The fact that sub-Saharan Africa has an average IQ of 75 compared to 100 for a white country GOES A DAMN LONG WAY to explaining why they eat clay and carry pots on their head and we check our blackberries.

I like some of what Chomsky has to say, but in the end he's a left-wing Jew and that particular religion won't let him stray from thinking the unthinkable: races differ in intelligence.

Also, this was 1972. Though not much has changed politically since then...

Herrnstein's theory collects more affirmative evidence every time a social study is done. And it is true whether race is considered or not.
