China Piles Up Free Trade Deals as Trump Abandons Them

From deals with blocs including the Association of Southeast Asian Nations to bilaterals with tiny countries like Maldives, China’s FTAs already cover 21 countries .

From energy to pharma, from the shale gas boom to lucrative lifesaving drugs, public research has everywhere laid the foundation for private profit.

As a share of the economy, funding for research has been falling for decades. Now it’s being cut to its lowest level as a percentage of GDP in 40 years. And Republicans want to see it fall even further: the budget blueprint that Trump released in March promises deep reductions in science funding.

China blasts Trump's new trade tariffs

South Korean Trade Minister Kim Hyun-chong called Trump's decision "excessive and a clear violation" of World Trade Organization rules.

South Korea plans to file a complaint with the WTO over the move to impose tariffs, Kim said at a meeting with industry officials.

Samsung added that it has hired more than 600 American workers at its new factory in South Carolina, which started producing washing machines this month.

LG added that it will "explore its options to try to mitigate the effect of this trade decision on American consumers, retailers and the people of Tennessee."

Will this be the pivotal moment when Trump and the GOP finally bring down the American economy?

Let China exploit others, America should want no part in their assault on humanity. Until China moves out of the shadow of oppressive, communist reign, no country should be engaging in free trade, it's domestic economic suicide. I say this as Canada has some interest in such trade, it's quite unpopular for a reason. People should not do business with human right abusers (yet, Canada somehow has partners in trade...)

Trump enterprises uses China to cheaply manufacture their goods shipped to the US, so the US president favors China and its cheap labor over American made products...Do you see the irony?

I thought the Maldives were supposed to be underwater by now. Did China work out a deal on scuba equipment?

Depends on who is in charge in the US.

Trump jokes that Pence wants to hang all the gays. Considering the GOP's position on gay rights, he probably isn't far off.

South Korea thinks we are the crazies.

Where did Trump talk about out relationship with Europe in his SOTU?

Republicans use sick and disabled children as bargaining CHIPS.

Republicans are against voting rights.

So who has become Human Rights Abusers?

Democracy has it's weaknesses. Can I point to our last 3 Presidents as the obvious examples?
