The news of the Chevy Volt sales are just another reflection of where billions of tax payers money has gone to. Didn't Obama hand Michigan billions to build the factory that was to make the batteries for this $40,000 car? And what happens if this factory shuts down next year?
:disbelief::disbelief::disbelief:
Liberals can't fool the average and angry American. Everything Obama promised to build and move the country foward HAS FAILED !!!
Let's hope the RNC makes an ad showing the failure of the Chevy Volt on our tax dollar. How will Obama, Pelosi, Reid and Wasserman explain their way out of this billion dollar debacle?

and how did Obama expect anyone to afford a $40,000 car when he wont even create any jobs so we can afford them? wouldnt you have to make about 100K a year to afford a volt?

electric cars are gay:gay: Americans dont want them...........plus, who wants a car that you have to drive in the dark to save the batteries and in the hot weather? Dont put on the air conditioning or you wont even make it to the gas station.:D

Ask 9 out of 10 American males.........would they rather have a Chevy Volt for 45K or a 2012 Boss Mustang for the same price?:coffee:

they will not stop producing the Volt, nor the batteries for them. They will correct the problems and move on.

The "problems" have only occurred in the lab, and are questioned. The Volt is selling very well recently. But carry on with brainwashed ignorant America bashing, a-holes. And look it up yourself, morons. LOL

there have been only 6,142 volts sold as of Dec 1, 2011.....the sales goal was 12,000 units. FAIL

it was on the news today that sales are way below par!! and aside from the cost, how about the cost of electricity? if the average home has a bill of about 100.00 a month? what will it be when you add on the volt?

Chevy Volt Again Suspected in House Fire | National Legal and Policy Center

Cars in Depth reports that the Chevy Volt and it's charging station are suspected as possible causes for a house fire that started in the garage of a Mooresville, NC home. According to the report, investigators found a Volt plugged into a charging station located in the burned out garage. The Iredell County Fire Marshal's office investigating the fire states, "The charging station was in the known area of origin, but the cause of the fire has not been officially determined."

But the homeowners can feel good about doing their part to reduce pollution.

We don't have to "root" for them to fail, they are doing a good job all by themselves. If GM was a tattoo artist....

Hey... Dumbass... The Volt was being designed for Production way before the TARP Bailout.

So Obama had nothing to do with the price point. But... since you mentioned it... I happened to think after the TARP bailout happened, that the government should have forced Chevy to sell the Volt at the same price point as the Toyota Prius. 22-30K.

If I was Obama, I would have told them if you want the bailout money, make it so. They could have easily spread the loss around to the tens of dozens of other cars they produce.

GM has recovered nicely since the Obama bailout. All those who rooted for the collapse of the US auto industry have been sadly disappointed

Why are republicans rooting for the failure of electric cars in the US? Are they that in love with the oil industry? Whether the volt succeeds or not, it is still an application of emerging technology that will help future projects

and all these commercials about new cars "ONLY $19,999" !!!! oh, plus tax, title, insurance, 3.50 gas, etc. Whatever happened to the good old days when cars were fairly priced between 10 and 15K? I can still remember when Lincolns and Caddillacs were between 10-12K. I remember buying a new camaro for $7,200. If the average car today is $20,000, then something is wrong. Whats in the price? Union Pay Offs, their retirement and free health care?

By the end of November, Chevrolet dealers had sold a total of 6,100 Volts. Of those, 1,100 were sold in November, about the same as the month before.

GM executives said on the company's conference call that Volt sales have been constrained not by lack of demand, but by lack of supply.

further on,

Only about 230 Volt owners have called with questions about the investigation, and only 33 accepted GM's offer to supply them with a loaner vehicle while the matter is ongoing, said Alan Batey, vice president of Chevrolet sales and Service for the U.S.
Chevy Volt misses 2011 sales goal - Dec. 1, 2011

Personally, I don't think the Volt is failure no more than I think the Ford Trucks are failures because 1.1 Million of them were recalled because of fuel tank fires. This is a part of the car business. the problem I see with the Volt is for the most part the price is to high to justify the benefit, not that the car itself is not a decent car. and given the choice between a car built by Americans and by an American company and one that isn't there is no choice there. The Volt has to compete with people who are looking for high MPG cars and when you can buy lets say a Chevy Cruise for half the price that gets great MPG then the Volt runs into issues. Is it a failure, no, the car is a new technology and like all new technolgies it will take time to mature and as it does it will become cheaper to produce and more appealing. I tend to like efforts like this as they tend to show that this nation can produce technology here and there is nothing wrong with that and personally I think we need more of that not less, and to slam the car simply because it may be connected with a politcial figure someone may or may not like, is not a justified reason to value a car.
