cheap foreign products

can someone explain to me how the Chinese/etc can produce such cheap [crap ]
they ship it over to the US--this cost in shipping/unloading/transporting/etc
how can it be so damn cheap then with these extra costs? ?? unless they are paying their employees cheap wages--very cheap
so, there should be tariffs, if this is so
thanks all civil replies

Chinese monthly wage is around $500 a month.

How many Americans do you know would take $500 a month?

Chinese work hard. Americans who earn little money often do so because they're lazy bastards.

More productivity, lower wages.

We are in our current predicament because people like you were willing to sell out others.
It’s time to undo the damage and you’ll have to suffer a bit.

You mean this predicament...Thanks I am glad to have contributed to the things below.

4% unemployment.

More jobs than people to fill them.

109 straight months of economic expansion.

One of the highest per capita GDPs in the world, and the highest nominal GDP in the world

The most total wealth in the world and one of the highest wealth per capita rates in the world.
Sounds good to me.
Tariffs will make it even better.

Nope, just about all those things have slowed down since Trump started his stupid trade war.
Maybe where you live, NYC and LI are exploding.

I do not base things on anecdotal evidences, just on the economic numbers for the country as a whole. It is totally irrelevant how your neck of the woods is doing.
And I don’t give a damn about 90% of the elitist crap you post.
There...I feel much better.

Sorry to post over your head, I will try and remember to post at a 3rd grade level when I am dealing with you from now on

The average wage in the US is $24.57 an hour
The average wage in China is the equivalent of $3.60 and hour

So, you want to put tariffs on product so that we all have to pay more for everything just because you company cannot compete?

I say screw that, your company needs to adapt or find something new to do.
it's not just one or 2 companies
so you are saying FK America--
$24.57 vs $3.60 is fair???equitable???!!!!!!!!!

America is doing just fine. There are a dozen threads a week on this forum talking about how amazing our economy is right now.

You totally miss the point that tariffs are designed to encourage domestic production.

our (or any for that matter) economy is always in flux, always influenced via past policies and legislations , and usually results in a 'musical chairs' bubble pop

So yuk it up ,slay the fattened lamp & toast whoever you'd like, but trust me when i say, you and I will not be getting a 'chair'

How much do you think smartphones cost in China?

People on $400 a month can afford to buy smart phones.

I'm not really sure why you're speaking like, I'm only stating facts.
