He initially wanted to target 95% white College of Charleston....120 miles away. All black SC State was only 40 miles away.

This is "Why Charleston". His liberal college sociology professor was hosting him all the time. And here is the Charleston connection.

But...College of Charleston in downtown is flooded with Charleston cops and Citadel Military College cadets. So....he chose a different target.
