According to the rules, profanity is supposed to be loosely tolerated. Yet I see no evidence of this nor any option to censor out such language. Here and there it's not a big deal, but reading a post the other day it was F-bombs several per sentence and in a really angry tone. If this isn't something actionable for the Mods fine, but at least let users who don't care for such language filter it. Seem to have no difficulty censoring out racial epithets so why not profanity too. Give us a control panel option to censor or not such words.

Let's see if I've got this right -- the same fellow who goes on binges obsessing about sex by creating endless threads of an extreme sexual nature while often times including themes involving children in these threads -- this same fellow is now complaining about foul language?

My mind is now officially boggled.

Padded rooms with elevator music and cupcakes with sprinkles on top are available here at USMB.
If you find any measure of the discussion beyond your acceptable level of tolerance ... There are sections of the forum that will address and accommodate your sensitivities.

"You stupid moron. You fucking idiot. You understand the fucking point of the post? No, you don't you ignorant ass.

Do you know or not know what a nuclear arms race is? You fucking idiot.

If you do, explain it to us.

Here you go. Sound familiar?

Fucking gullible idiot."

If that's 'loosely tolerated' I don't wanna see fullbore no-holds barred usage.

All I want is the option to switch on a filter for 'colorful metaphors.' If some people can't express themselves any other way that's fine, that's their problem, but I don't wanna have to read every time I think I'm reading apolitical thread instead of a Rubber Room one.

You don't have to read anything here.
The rules state profanity is tolerated at the discretion of the moderators ... Not the discretion of any particular user.

You have the option to restrict your activity to areas where profanity is not tolerated.
You have the option to place frequent abusers on "ignore" so as not to be offended by their perceived abuse.
You have the option of not pursuing conversations that stray across the boundaries of your desired comfort level.

Make the responsible decisions yourself using the tools available ... And understand no one is making you participate in any forum or sub-forum at USMB.
Options are available ... Figure out how to make them work for you.

Funny how simply asking for a user-decided toggle upsets some. Not calling for censorship just a sensible toggle switch.

So, when you listed all the various types of porn you watch in excruciating detail, or talked about the sexualization of children over and over and over again, are you really thinking that it is the person using the word "fuck" who is causing the most offense here?

I realize that when you are in your manic phase, you just can't help but post this crap, but I'm thinking here that the mods probably have something better to do than responding to a pot who is the darkest shade of black imaginable wagging his finger at all the kettles who are anything less than pristine white.

Will have to link the threads I did any such thing as you claim.

Think like many seem to you guys only read the titles of my threads then hit reply if you even read that much.

You have the ability to adjust your activities to produce the same outcome.
Accept your responsibility to fulfill your desires ... Don't wait for someone else to do it for you.

The problem exists in your interpretation of the parameters ... And the extent to which you desire to make it someone else's problem to fix.
My suggestion would be to fix it yourself ... And quit looking for some sort of validation in regards to your objections.

Not asking for anything not already in the code as the censoring of certain words attests. Simply need to add which words get censored or add a user-selectable toggle switch to do it.

As to my responsibility, I exercise it not reading the flame groups. This was a Politics group thread which started fine, but rapidly turned into a Rubber Room sorta one I wouldn't normally be reading.

It's a Rule. Either enforce the rules or get rid of the rule.

If you are not asking for anything else ... Then there is nothing else to ask for.
You are also not the arbiter in regards to the extent the rules may or may not be enforced ... The rule states "at the moderator's discretion" ... Not your discretion.

You are only powerless against the onslaught of flagrant profanity because you choose to be ... Not because someone else has made that choice for you nor because they have failed to adequately protect you from your personal problems.

If someone is too honest with you, you can put them on ignore....

I cannot believe you are asking for censorship Delta.
