Actually PC -- as an environmentalist, I don't care how stupid they might be. I'm MAD that this over-hyped movement has HIJACKED the entire universe of environmental concerns, issues and discussion for most of my adult life. It's done more damage to species/habitat protection and BASIC enviro science ---- than the tiny 0.8degC global temperature blip has done in your lifetime..

But yeah -- there is very little comprehension of how things work. And how to triage a problem and lay out MULTIPLE ways to address it. And that most often adds up to stupid..

They hear things like "Iowa Totally powered by wind" and don't read or understand that this happens maybe twice a year for 2 hours. Or that MOST of the energy ended up dumped because of how long it takes to take other BACKBONE off-line and bring them back again. No desire to LEARN any details on the things they MARCH and SCREAM for....

On Oct. 27, 1948, the people of Donora, Pa., woke up to a thick yellow blanket of smog. Charles Stacey, who was a senior at the local high school then, remembers his walk to class that day.

"The smog created a burning sensation in your throat and eyes and nose, but we still thought that was just normal for Donora," Stacey says.

Back then, smog often hung on until late morning in Donora, a small mill town about 25 miles south of Pittsburgh. The town's zinc plant and steel mill belched out endless streams of toxic smoke.

But this smog was different. It darkened the valley for five straight days. That week, Stacey listened to the radio and discovered that the ever-thickening smog had turned lethal: 20 people were dead, and half the town was sick. He says everyone was overwhelmed by the havoc.
