Caption this Protest WallStreet Photo!

A great question was asked by a USMB poster the other day. He asked, what do the Socialists/Progressives plan on replacing Capitalism with? I still haven't heard a logical or coherent answer from a Socialist/Progressive on this board. They say they have all the answers so i'm open to listening to their plans and solutions. Hating and complaining are not solutions though. Lets hear what their replacement for Capitalism will be.

Most Liberals do not want to "replace" capitalism. Heck..it was invented by Liberals. What they want to "replace" is the growing Corporatism most Theocratic Monarchists of the right wing favor. And in essence..Corporatism is more correctly called Fascism.

Who said there would be one? You're setting up a "strawman". I could just as easily ask you why the right is so enamored of the fascist economic model?
So how does no economic system work?

So, how come you ask stupid questions? What's this "no economic system" all about, except as a red-herring to confuse the issue? Anyone suggested previously in the thread....? I didn't think so. NEXT

YOUVE ENTERED THE REALM OF STUPIDITY. And it was quite a stupid remark.

While I agree that used to be quite common for big corporations and there were many scandals associated with that, that is not all that common any longer. More often than not someone like Raytheon, for example, will be the best candidate for a contract in cost and product/service, but they can't even get out of the competitive gate because they are DQed from the start. Now, the problem lies in the 8A and set-asides. This allows politicians to invest in start-ups who are favored for contracts but haven't the ability to produce.

It's disgusting to see that the regulations put in place to stop corruption that has already been dealt with for the most part now create a whole new class of rip-offs to The People.

So, in part, I agree with the OWS, but they are misdirecting their anger.

I don't think so. A person accepting a bribe and the person offering it are equally as abhorrent, to me.

....
I'm just letting you know how it currently is - just the tip of the iceberg.

.... If we simply get money the hell out of our electoral process we'd be a lot better off. Maybe Legislators would be more pragmatic and less about their own personal pockets.

We should have the best leaders possible leading our Country. When they can't raise Campaign money to compete, we get less than that.
I think many of us agree on this. The difference lies in how we reach that end - thorough analysis of the ramifications of actions to that end is a always good idea.

I don't think it's all that hard.

If people point out the obvious fact that the middle class is shrinking and that the Nation's Wealth Gap is becoming proposterous, they should not be demeaned as "leeches" or anything of the sort. It has absolutely zero to do with work ethic, employment, or how rich or not rich that they personally are, they are pointing out an obvious problem that should NOT be ignored.

It bothers me that, during a recession, Corporate Profits and CEO compensation hits Record HIGHS.

That tells me all that I need to know about why things are the way that they are. The Bigger Corporations in collusion with our Government are serving as "Masters" of the economy, and they are the ones committing class warfare.

Did the Economy crash because these people complaining now, all of a sudden got lazy and stopped working? They started demanding to be handed all kinds of money all of a sudden and wanted to be unemployed for extended periods? They laid themselves off?

Some bigger "hands" are what caused all of this, and conveniently, as a result of this "crash," Corporate PROFITS (key word) are at an all time high.

Meanwhile we magically have a Political narrative telling everyone that the economy is down because the big gubbamint makes it too hard for corporations to do business? Hold the phone.

What's happening is the "economy" is being used as an excuse to keep wages down, and keep workers producing at an all time high, (those leeches in the middle class) in fear of losing their jobs.

As a result of those stagnated wages, people can only afford goods at places like Walmart, etc. because they're so big that they are able to charge the cheapest whole-sale prices. So, magically, if Corporations keep their workers' wages low, the middle class's buying power directs sales right to there door-step while small businesses who necessarily have to charge higher prices are being forced out of competition.

This whole idea that pointing out the absurdity of the growing wealth-gap and shrinking middle class is somehow "class warfare rhetoric" or lazy people who want something handed to them (yes, I know there's retards that say retarded things), is not going to help this Country get back onto its feet.

Irrespective of the fact that this doesn't really address what I said, I cannot agree with the concept that GOVERNMENT is obliged to redistribute the wealth. That is a surrender of power to the most abusive and oppressive entity.

I cannot agree with that ideal at all and I like the Constitution too much.

What do we want? We Don't Know!!!!
When do we want it? RIGHT NOW!!!!

If it's not obvious to you,

wealth-pie.png

Isn't this supposed to be a fun/funny thread?

No need to get your panties stuck way up your twat dude.

Maybe you should have posted the list instead there mr. sensitive

Demand one: Restoration of the living wage. This demand can only be met by ending "Freetrade" by re-imposing trade tariffs on all imported goods entering the American market to level the playing field for domestic family farming and domestic manufacturing as most nations that are dumping cheap products onto the American market have radical wage and environmental regulation advantages. Another policy that must be instituted is raise the minimum wage to twenty dollars an hr.

Demand two: Institute a universal single payer healthcare system. To do this all private insurers must be banned from the healthcare market as their only effect on the health of patients is to take money away from doctors, nurses and hospitals preventing them from doing their jobs and hand that money to wall st. investors.

Demand three: Guaranteed living wage income regardless of employment.

Demand four: Free college education.

Demand five: Begin a fast track process to bring the fossil fuel economy to an end while at the same bringing the alternative energy economy up to energy demand.

Demand six: One trillion dollars in infrastructure (Water, Sewer, Rail, Roads and Bridges and Electrical Grid) spending now.

Demand seven: One trillion dollars in ecological restoration planting forests, reestablishing wetlands and the natural flow of river systems and decommissioning of all of America's nuclear power plants.

Demand eight: Racial and gender equal rights amendment.

Demand nine: Open borders migration. anyone can travel anywhere to work and live.

Demand ten: Bring American elections up to international standards of a paper ballot precinct counted and recounted in front of an independent and party observers system.

Demand eleven: Immediate across the board debt forgiveness for all. Debt forgiveness of sovereign debt, commercial loans, home mortgages, home equity loans, credit card debt, student loans and personal loans now! All debt must be stricken from the "Books." World Bank Loans to all Nations, Bank to Bank Debt and all Bonds and Margin Call Debt in the stock market including all Derivatives or Credit Default Swaps, all 65 trillion dollars of them must also be stricken from the "Books." And I don't mean debt that is in default, I mean all debt on the entire planet period.

Demand twelve: Outlaw all credit reporting agencies.

Demand thirteen: Allow all workers to sign a ballot at any time during a union organizing campaign or at any time that represents their yeah or nay to having a union represent them in collective bargaining or to form a union.

They are a bunch of idiots!!!

Not really. The Founding Fathers were not Fascists. In fact they were the opposite. They wanted to escape the tyranny of the King of England. They set things up to make sure there could be no oppressive Dictatorships in the future. Regardless though,i really am interested in hearing what the Socialist/Progressive plans are to replace Capitalism. They have claimed to have all the answers so lets hear them. All the complaining just gets old. Lets hear some plans.

I agree that the Government shouldn't be redistributing it, and yet they have been. The top 1% didn't get 33% of the Nation's Wealth without the Government Cronies piggy-backing them along the way.

Do you remember when Oil supply was fine but the Speculators had oil prices at like $4/Gallon? ('06 or something, I don't remember). And even Bill O'Reilly (right-wing) was pissed off about it?

There's something inherently wrong when an economic system allows for such diversion from simple supply and demand basics. Gambling futures is a fucked way to do business.

Wallstreet SHOULD BE protested. Every time it farts burps or coughs they directly relate it back to "the economy" or vice-versa, and then the Big employers say that "due to the uncertainty, no raises! layoffs!" (despite their company making RECORD MONEY, to boot), which is in essence saying that a big chunk of what controls our current economy is what - - - gambling? How's that work? Gubbamint assistance. Thank you, come again.

Your FIRST clue should have been that....no one (on the Left) has any plans to replace Capitalism!!

Ya' gotta quit listening to....

.....like Porky Limbaugh & "Crazy Joe" Farah.

Lots of people listen to crazy people but i don't. I just feel it's a fair question. If you hate Capitalism so much then it is your responsibility to offer an alternative. Constant complaining just gets old. Capitalism is what we are but i'm open to hearing other plans and solutions. Most Socialists/Progressives have established they despise Capitalism. I'm sorry but that is what i have observed. Now it's time for them to offer up an alternative.

I am pro Capitalism, and I am pro- protesting what we have today. Try wrapping your head around it a few times until it's tight enough to stay.

My Caption? TYPICAL LIMOSINE LIBERAL HYPOCRITES!

Great example of why I always have a string of laughing smilies at the bottom of my posts. Because you can't help laughing at this rank stupidity. Yet, liberals always think they are the smartest people in the room. Seriously? I think it's drugs that causes this total obliviousness to reality.

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

Conservatives are obviously oblivious to what the protest is about. Nowhere does anyone say abolish corporations. Typical conservative hyperbole of "if we cut down excessive corporate profit, that means they will no longer exist"

So let's just caption it "Idiotic rightwing attempt to smear protest"

Most lefties are smarter than most righties...this board is evidence of that...

And that's why you couldn't refute the evidence in the picture or even think up a caption. 'Cause you sooooooooooo schmart!

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

Don't make fun of his religious beliefs. If Dr. Chump wants to believe in elves, fairies, gnomes and the notion that most libbies are smarter than most conservatives, we should be tolerant of that silliness.

That's cool with me. I'm also pro-Capitalism and pro-protesting. But i have seen many Socialists/Progressives who routinely complain about how much they despise our Capitalistic System. I just think it's a very fair question to ask what they want to replace it with. Lets just be honest and hash it out. What System do they want? Discussing this rationally is far better than all this hate and division. It's time to get the discusssion started.

I haven't seen that, at all. Where ? Who? name names, drop links.

I think the undertone of "the left" is more regulation, not "different economic system altogether." But that's what I've gathered.

I also have to disagree with them. We need smarter regulation, not more.

Play you silly picture games all you want, Tea Party Wimp. We are not going away. We have seen the face of the enemy that is trying to put this nation back in the Gilded Age. The attack has been all on your side up to now.

Up to now. Now it is our turn. First the streets, then the voting booth. After that, laws and regulations that prevent the creation of an oligarchy. Laws that prevent vast profits on the health of the working american. A health care system such as we see in other nations that succeed in obtaining higher longevity and healthier children at half the cost per citizen. And cover all of their citizens.

A minimum wage that is a living wage. Laws that prevent the kind of meltdown that we saw in 2008. We had them on the books once. They were repealed, and we can see the results. Just as we will see the results in an environment once again poisoned by big corperations if the Teabaggers and the GOP succeed in terminating the EPA.

We want Free Trade on a level playing field. Free trade only with those nations that have equivelent environmental and labor laws. The idea is for them to come up to first world standards for their citizens, not for us to descend the third world standards for ours, no matter how much the Koch brothers desire that.

And we are going to have a say in the elections. Enough of the mindless repitition of the rants of an obese junkie, we want real science to have a say in policy.

Laws that prevent the kind of meltdown that we saw in 2008. We had them on the books once. They were repealed, and we can see the results.

Which repealed laws would have prevented the crisis?
How would they have prevented the crisis?
Be as specific as you can.

Totally agree. You should consider protesting with the Tea Party. ;)

Well then the question isn't for you. But there are many on the Left who do hate Capitalism. I just want to hear from them on what their alternative would be. We should have an honest discussion on this instead of all this hate. The hate and attacks will not solve anything. It will only force people to become more entrenched in their beliefs. We need more open minds for sure. Thanks for your replies.
