I had a discussion decades ago with relatives in Canada about them being a socialist country. That they were proud that they are a socialist's country. That they didn't care that the government had control over their lives. And the reason why they had thought that it was okay is because they were raised in that system. and that goes for any other country. If they were born into a certain system, they have grown accustomed to it.

Only the youths try opposing the system. Like they have this day called Canada's day. During this holiday, the youths and others will go to the park to smoke cannabis as a protest to get the government to legalize cannabis. But their government allows them to smoke it out in public just for that day. That it was a protest that their government approved of. And so it wasn't a protest, but a privilege with the consent of the government.

But their country is cleaner than our.

A Constitutional Republic with an iron clad Bill of Rights to protect citizens against the abuses of government is the best form of government that humans could have.

Unfortunately people that run a government don't want that iron clad protection of the citizens because they don't have power over the people then. That is the real reason you don't see it elsewhere.

Our Bill of Rights was great for the time in which it was written and a major step forward for Liberty. However, for the modern world it is weak and we let our leader get away with abusing it all the time. Just look how the Second Amendment is abused in the Blue states as an example.
