Cambridge Analytica caught in video sting

it has now been revealed that they were testimg out Trump campaign slogans in 2014.

Now...who would have asked them to do that, I wonder?

Could it be the same people that would have made Ukrainian prostitutes available to CA executives?

Yet, Obama for America also harvested info-

On Twitter, Carol Davidsen, the former director of integration and media analytics at Obama for America, explained how the 2012 campaign harnessed Facebook’s Application Programming Interface (API) to access the company’s "social graph” that maps users’ connections. This enabled the campaign to access information on users’ friends when they used the Facebook log-in button to access the campaign’s website, according to the Washington Post.

Obama 2012 campaign 'sucked' data from Facebook, former official says

Oh, SHIT! I seem to roughly agree with Rush Limbaugh.
I'm going to go hide now.
i can't listen to too many of the mouthpieces on either side.

people can get mad at cambridge if they want. odds are, they will if it fits their agenda of hate. but if facebook allows this it's bad facebook. however, every single search engine out there does the same. google, bing, facebook, twitter - they watch everything we do not to catch us at something but to give them the best chance at a response to their advertising.

my issues with facebook is in 2012 they saw it was happening and allowed it. in 2016 they didn't see it but in that 4 year span, didn't take measures to protect their users from something they KNEW was an issue.

zuckerberg is said to be in "hiding" maybe drama, may be so, but he damn sure has a huge problem on his hands right now.

Do you think they really did that? Yes, I heard the guy TALKING about it, but ... really?

glad you go on facts, man. otherwise this could be considered vague and inconclusive.

"BIGGEST SECRET ABOUT CAMBRIDGE ANALYTICA: It was an overpriced service that delivered little value to the TRUMP campaign, & the other campaigns & PACs that retained it — most of which hired the firm because it was seen as a prerequisite for receiving $$$ from the MERCERS."

I know that Cambridge Analytica has already been in the news this week, with the revelation that they harvested significant amounts of facebook data, but this is apparently an entirely different story that also broke today.

Cambridge Analytica, for those who don't know, is a conservative "data management" firm owned by the Mercer family (and formerly run by Steve Bannon) with a fairly shady history of psy-ops in regard to elections all around the world. It appears that a reporter from Channel 4 News in England recently recorded a "sting" meeting with the CEO of Cambridge Analytica, in which that CEO made a number of offers to entrap and blackmail a hypothetical political opponent, including suggesting sending Ukrainian hookers to someone's house and filming it (to release via shell organizations on twitter), and various other shady things.

There is apparently more to come, tomorrow - which directly involves the work they did for Donald Trump.

Revealed: Trump’s election consultants filmed saying they use bribes and sex workers to entrap politicians

Amazing how none of the Trumpster's want to talk about how this Conservative run and operated firm offered to use bribes and hookers to change elections.

That is because the Trumpettes will label anything that doesn't make the Orange Clown look good "fake news", even if it's true.

Part three: The Trump campaign
The undercover investigation reveals how Cambridge Analytica claims it ran ‘all’ of President Trump’s digital campaign – and may have broken election law. Executives were secretly filmed saying they leave ‘no paper trail’. And, as the report went on air, the firm announced it has suspended chief executive Alexander Nix, pending a full investigation.

Data, Democracy and Dirty Tricks: Cambridge Analytica Uncovered.

They claim to have met Donald Trump many times and ran his digital campaign. And Steve Bannon of course was right in the middle of it.

Lest we forget who this is all about....

Before he was a far-right wackjob he was a computer guy. He virtually invented the technique of profiting from data analysis.

Aye, Mr. Nix has been nixed. He sure did talk out of turn. Yet without being there we cannot understand the whole context of this conversation. His statements are so wild it is almost hard to take him seriously. If he is serious, he is a nutcase. All we really know is that the Trump campaign had this data firm analyze public data. The Obama campaign did the same. Obviously Mr. Nix is just bouncing off ideas on how to expose a politician that is already suspected of corruption that could be vulnerable to more corruption. The Steele dossier was much worse than this. It is clear that this undercover video is creatively edited as well. I am sure someone like Mr. Nix will never hurt for work.

How Obama’s Team Used Big Data to Rally Voters
How President Obama’s campaign used big data to rally individual voters.
    • by Sasha Issenberg
    • December 19, 2012
    • ...
"As campaign manager Jim Messina prepared to spend as much as half a billion dollars on mass media for Obama’s reëlection, he set out to reinvent the process for allocating resources across broadcast, cable, satellite, and online channels. “If you think about the universe of possible places for an advertiser, it’s almost infinite,” says Amy Gershkoff, who was hired as the campaign’s media-planning director on the strength of her successful negotiations, while at her firm Changing Targets in 2009, to link the information from cable systems to individual microtargeting profiles. “There are tens of millions of opportunities where a campaign can put its next dollar. You have all this great, robust voter data that doesn’t fit together with the media data. How you knit that together is a challenge.”

By the start of 2012, Wagner had deftly wrested command of media planning into his own department. As he expanded the scope of analytics, he defined his purview as “the study and practice of resource optimization for the purpose of improving programs and earning votes more efficiently.” That usually meant calculating, for any campaign activity, the number of votes gained through a given amount of contact at a given cost...

Davidsen, whose previous work had left her intimately familiar with the rich data sets held in set-top boxes, understood that a lot of that data was available in the form of tuner and DVR histories collected by cable providers and then aggregated by research firms. For privacy reasons, however, the information was not available at the individual level. “The hardest thing in media buying right now is the lack of information,” she says.

Davidsen began negotiating to have research firms repackage their data in a form that would permit the campaign to access the individual histories without violating the cable providers’ privacy standards. Under a $350,000 deal she worked out with one company, Rentrak, the campaign provided a list of persuadable voters and their addresses, derived from its microtargeting models, and the company looked for them in the cable providers’ billing files. When a record matched, Rentrak would issue it a unique household ID that identified viewing data from a single set-top box but masked any personally identifiable information.

The Obama campaign had created its own television ratings system, a kind of Nielsen in which the only viewers who mattered were those not yet fully committed to a presidential candidate. But Davidsen had to get the information into a practical form by early May, when Obama strategists planned to start running their anti-Romney ads. She oversaw the development of a software platform the Obama staff called the Optimizer, which broke the day into 96 quarter-hour segments and assessed which time slots across 60 channels offered the greatest number of persuadable targets per dollar...

    • Even without that tactic, Obama’s buys perplexed the Romney analysts in Boston. They had invested in their own media-intelligence platform, called Centraforce...

it is the Democrats who pushed hookers and hackers not Mr. Nix. he was just talking about ideas that make corrupt people look more corrupt
